What happened to Edsel Irvine's killer Michael Swafford aka 'smoke'?

I just watched the episode "Where There's Smoke" about the murder of Edsel Irvine. Michael Swafford aka "Smoke" was arrested for the murder. I tried looking up the trial outcome online and found nothing. Does anyone know what happened?

Michael Swafford was found innocent on this case, but since has been found guilty on another case and was sentenced to 55 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections in 2019.
