According to this interview, Arquette is definitely linked to this project:

"I know I have to wrap up with you, but are there other things that are floating around for you that might be coming up in the future? I know that according to IMDB, you might be in a movie called Sold."

Arquette: Yea, that’s an amazing movie that’s also a work of philanthropy. It’s based on a book about human trafficking in India of young kids. That’s a very serious one that I’d love to get going so that we could donate some of the proceeds of the film and help save some kids lives."

And so is Anderson, according to the official website for the film:

Gillian Anderson will be in the country next month to shoot for a film on human trafficking.....

After Angelina Jolie (A Mighty Heart), Julia Roberts (Eat Pray Love), Josh Hartnett (Singularity) and Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight), another Hollywood crew is coming to India to shoot a film. X-Files star Gillian Anderson will arrive in India next month to shoot for a Hollywood film titled Sold. The film revolves around a human trafficking chain from Nepal to India.

Reveals an insider, "Gillian plays a photographer whose life accidentally gets intertwined with a girl who gets sold in Nepal. Gillian attempts to hunt down the girl, who is being transported to a brothel in India, and bust the trafficking network. Gillian is cast alongside with David Arquette (of Never Been Kissed fame). She will be in India to look at the research work and the locations where the team will be shooting."

The informer adds, "The schedule won't be an extended one. Don't think they will shoot for more than 40 days. It will be shot in Nepal and India. Though the shooting locations are yet to be finalised, Mumbai, Kathmandu and some parts of Uttar Pradesh are likely to be the shooting destinations."
