Why does E.B. have an English accent?

Apart from the fact that Brand is English i could see no logical reason for it.

Also when i saw the credits and saw James Marsden (from the X-Men films) was in it
i started to wonder how old his character was supposed to be. From the film I guessed 20, 21? So i was slightly surprised that Marsden was born in 1973 making him 37. Somehow he pulls it off though.

Technically i though this film was very well done though. The way the CGI and real
actors were mixed together was exceptionally good. It was also surprisingly enjoyable for adults considering it is a lightweight kiddie friendly film.

his father had the accent, so he does too. Why does his dad? maybe his dad had it. So on and so forth.

In the movie he was supposed to be closer to 30-remember, the beginning is when he is 8-10, then the movie takes place 20 years later. So... ya.

This, and that Americans tend to use British accents to point out something foreign or in this case different. Besides the German and Russian accents it's usualy British when foreign...

I assume it's because the English accent has been around far longer than any American accent, as it was thousands of years of tradition.

Yeah, they should probably be speaking some ancient language but since this movie it a light family comedy targeted to those speaking the english language is makes the most sense.

You're focusing on the wrong part of the story, chief. Why would it be any more logical for him to have another accent? If you really wanna get into it, he should have been German, as the practice of hiding Easter eggs started in Germany way back in the 1600's or something.

All I'm saying is that the accent is irrelevant. Now, how the bass drum was playing, yet he was not hitting the bass drum pedal...there's something to question. hahaha

Why does almost every animated character have an English accent?

Moreso, why do people keep spending their money on movies like "Hop," which is clearly another commercialized stab at doing away with any religious connection to what WAS a Christian observance? Same goes for every so-called "Christmas" movie.

I know I'm speaking to the wrong people here though. Most of the people on IMDB seem to be militant atheistic anti-religious nutcases.

Actually, Christianity stole it from Pagans when it was Ostara and is all about fertility and nothing to do with resurrection. Convenient that Christmas falls during the Pagan Winter Solstice celebration and Easter during the Pagan spring/fertility festival. Yea, that was the Catholic Church trying to get pagans to celebrate their way on pain of death and stuff and thought this might make it easier for them. I love how religious types complain about how people are taking the religion from those holidays that were STOLEN from another religion in order to stamp it out. Pot calling the kettle black and stuff.

Oh PLEASE.....I'm a Christian but I don't go around branding movies as anti-christian all the time. Yeah right this movie was only made to do away with Christianity *rolls eyes* Get over yourself.

You really need to get a life iron eagle!People like you read far too much into movies,maybe this wasnt aimed at any form of christianity and it was just made as an easter film!You dont have to be religious to enjoy easter ffs.My children have a dozen chocolate eggs to open and eat every year and i am the most anti religious person.I buy them because my kids like chocolate.

Seriously? Because they got Russell brand, pretty simple. The real question is why Hank Azaria is doing a bad Carlos Mencia impression for a revolutionary worker Chic? It seems kinda racist at first and then I just think maybe they are playing off of Che Guevara. But why not just cast Carlos mencia or George Lopez since that was what they were going for.hank is Jewish so it really doesn't make that much sense.
