Why did they make the main character retarded and unrelatable?

A movie about a guy who discovers his parents were 70s porn stars and then goes to the valley to become one might have been interesting and funny at the same time.

But who gives a *beep* about someone who looks and acts like Bucky Larson?

reply

I guess it's supposed to be funny. I won't be seeing it.

The irony in this post is amazing. Stay classy.

Irony is defined as using a word in a sense that is different from it's literal or intended meaning. So now that this has been explicitly stated, I'd like you to point out where exactly you think the irony exists, because people use that word when they mean something else because they don't understand the true meaning of it.
Classy is a matter of opinion. Not taking crap off of people can also be defined as classy. I don't like taking crap off of people like Swardson when they choose to inflict what they consider to be avant-garde, or advanced comedy, when in reality it's just a load of BS, as Nick is doing when he endeavors to come up with jokes that are as tasteless or cringe-inducing as possible. I fail to see that as comedy, and don't find it funny at all. I've watch Swardson do his shows, and stand-up. He can be funny, but he's a bit of a lazy comedian in that his delivery is laced with a lot of mental pauses such as "you know", "uhm" and the worst of the lot, "like" in contexts that are not appropriate, over-using the word so much that it becomes nearly useless.
So I re-state my original thesis, Nick Swardson is becoming a major douche-nozzle, prove me wrong, but I don't think you can.

reply

It's not irony but you're still an idiot.

reply

Did he really just say Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and It's Always Sunny were bad?

reply

Stentor7 is either a troll or is in the running for Biggest Dip *beep* on IMDb.

reply

That's funny, I thought you were the biggest dip$hit on IMDB.

I THINK THIS IS ADAM SANDLER MADE UP, THATS WHY NO INFO ON THE NICK SWARDON, WHAT DOES ANYONE ELSE THINK?

So you couldn't tell Nick Swardson was a sh*** actor.

I just saw him in a movie called thirty minutes or less and he was playing a good part with a moustacge

Definitely the first time I've ever heard of Seinfeld referred to as "lowest common denominator." It has probably the most brilliant comedy writing in history.

reply

I don't think he was calling those shows bad. I believe he was saying that Swardson's comedy is of the same type as Seinfeld, etc., except grotesquely devolved and juvenile.

reply

That's exactly what I'm saying. But that whole process was started by Seinfeld, and this idea that characters acting badly is funny. Sure everyone thinks Seinfeld is brilliant, but that's because Larry David's writing was balanced out by Jerry and the rest of the gang's acting, but it was based on bad behavior. Some of the stuff they used to do made me cringe.
So if you look at Curb Your Enthusiasm, then you see Larry David's writing undiluted by anything else, and you see that he bases entire storylines and episodes on things like taking a golf club out of a casket, plot devices I would consider incredibly crass.
Sandler's comedy has been devolving for years, Zohan was a real turd, the only funny part when he smacked the guy around with his feet.
And admit it, all of the characters in It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia have no redeeming characteristics at all, they're all horrible human beings, shallow, immature, selfish, greedy, etc., they represent the worst of humanity While I think some of their exploits are funny, ask yourself at least one time, hasn't something that one of them has done struck you as cringe-worthy?

No, it's just a TV show. Thousands of years ago, our entertainment used to be watching people kill each other.

reply

Not bad, but based on a type of comedy that is becoming more prevalent nowadays, and is of questionable character if done poorly.

reply

Pure comedy! I bet this thread contains more humor than the stupid movie.

reply

That's only your opinion, so stick it where opinions belong, right up your a*s*s*h*o*l*e Because like opinions, everyone has one, and everyone else's stinks.

reply

Seinfeld and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are bad? You sir, are a sad strange little man. Let me guess, you think Hannah Montana is the funniest show on tv? Or you're a huge fan of Jersey Shore. Probably.

Who are you?! I'm the Doctor!!

reply

Sad no, strange no, little definitely no. I like Seinfeld, and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and I think Hannah Montana sucks ass, not that I've ever seen an episode, same goes for the retards from Jersey. So now that we know you totally suck at deductive logic, why don't you STFU? Probably?

Just because I make a comparison that Swardson is the devolvement of the type of humor started by those shows, doesn't mean that I dislike them, just that it's like a train wreck or a bad car accident, sometimes you want to look away, but you just can't.

reply

are you done yet? shut the hell up.

reply

[deleted]

You're an idiot. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is brilliant, and none of those shows are even comparable to this movie.

reply

It's ironic that you are comparing this film to some of the greatest comedic shows of all time to further your argument that the film will be awful.

reply

The film will be awful, let's just wait and see what the grosses are. I'll bet Rotten Tomatoes rates it below 20%. And no, that's still not irony. You wouldn't probably know what irony is if it whacked you right between the eyes.

reply

Oh yeah, what did I tell you. I should have been bolder with my prediction, I was being too conservative because I thought all the Adam Sandler fanboys would go see this turd.
Bucky Larson currently holding steady on Rotten Tomatoes with a 0%, man you've really got to suck to rate the ever rare Zero Percent. Grossed 1.4 million opening weekend, total box office is holding at 2.3 million, too bad it cost 10 million to make.
Both Nick and Adam deserve to have all of their pubes individually plucked out by tweezers for making this pile of dog doo.
Nick, I see you walking around LA, I'm going to get in your face, just like I personally gave David Spade a ration of $hit to his face for Joe Dirt at the Ferrari shop where he hung out with the owner. You too, Adam, I live in this town, it's just a matter of time until I run into one of you.

reply

Because the only people who would watch this pile of crap are retarded

"You could trouble me for a warm glass of Shut The Hell Up!"

reply

One more installment in Adam Sandler's quest to prove that the mentally handicapped are, in reality, hilarious.
