All the mercenaries crews have small interstellar vessels that they land on planets when they'd be better off withe larger ships that remain in orbit while smaller ships are used for landing. When something goes wrong, call the orbiting ship for backup.

I was thinking maybe they don't have the resources for big ones and are just small outfits. But yes that would be very helpful in this film.
shareYou have to remember that you're talking about mercenaries, bounty hunters, and other unsavory characters.
Larger ships would attract unwanted attention to them. There are also highly civilized societies in this universe, with true law enforcement and military forces...these are the kind of entities that mercs and bounty hunters would want to avoid. Not to mention large marauding masses like Necromongers.
It makes sense to go small, and fly under the radar so to speak...
