Sniper: Inside the Crosshairs

I have seen this 2 hour documentary on History Channel several times now. I have two thoughts:

1) It displays the killing of human beings as if it was a sport. Incisive analysis of specific incidents reveals how the sniper operates. Nowhere does the documentary ask why. Some of the subjects give terse answers such as "saving lives" but they fool no one. The technological information removes the human element from the story. This is not ESPN covering NCAA football - this is war and it should be taken more seriously. Perhaps a sequel about what happened to each sniper after they returned home from war is in order.

2) It is well-made, tightly edited and generally compelling. As gruesome and questionable as the material is, it works very well. One almost does not notice that this is about killing humans.

That said, I have no objection to fighting the terrorists. They picked a fight with America and its allies. They knew what they were doing and have no one to blame but themselves. Serves them right.
