I think I remember her saying she "wanted to do a romantic comedy".

She didn't take this role after winning the Oscar. The film was released before she won the Oscar.

She never made the best decisions as an actress, anyway.

It's an ordinary high school day. Except that it's not.

For one, you've got the dates mixed up. And two, you're proving my point. You said she made this film after she won this Oscar. It was released a month before (January 2011) she won the Oscar (February 2011) so how does that work out? And not to mention, Thor was made before she won the Oscar and released a few months after she won the Oscar.

Unless you're trying to say she made this film after she made Black Swan which is correct, but what point are you trying to make with that? How did she know she would win an Oscar for Black Swan?

It's an ordinary high school day. Except that it's not.

It's not that I'm adamant to prove my point. I was just merely correcting you on a mistake you made. The OP asked why did she accept this film and one of the first things you wrote was that she accepted the role after she won the Oscar, so actually it is relevant to the subject.

Natalie Portman originally entered the project as a producer and not as a member of the cast. She remained an executive producer after being cast as Emma. The film is credited as a production of Portman's production company, Handsomecharlie Films.

Now she is saying she only got paid 1/3 of what Kutcher made. If that is true she should have turned it down or fired her agent. Definitely not the movie you take a paycut on. Maybe a Scorsese movie, but not a dopey forgettable romantic comedy. I only remembered this movie because it was brought up in the payscale debate.

oh reaLLy? that sucks.. I assumed for sure she got paid a lot to act in this garbage film.

Easy, it goes along the lines of: "I'm trying to rebuild my career and reputation after 'Star Wars,'" and "I could use the money, despite the fact that the 'Star Wars' Royalty checks have me set for life."

She said she wanted to do a romantic comedy. Rom-coms are probably a guilty pleasure for her. She could have picked one with a bigger script, though.
