This show is trash. TVLand has SOLD OUT

TVLAND should be about showcasing classic television shows. We have enough garbage reality shows out there.

I agree - truly, it's a prime time version of pornography. As another poster said, who would want to date a woman who allows herself to be kissed by 20 men?

It's a sad sign of our times when a channel such as TVLand stoops so low to air something like this - hopefully it will be cancelled quickly and those responsible dismissed, since it's seems their "creative thinking" is now out of control...

I agree with Melca36 100%. There are so many terrific classic TV shows that aren't shown on TV and TVLand insists on showing this reality garbage. I guess the only way to get good classic shows anymore is to buy the DVDs of the series.

I agree - even the few shows left on TVLand are so chopped up that they are now condensed versions of the original programs...

The other night, an episode of Andy was cut down so much that the story was being held together by a thread - I know this to be true since the longer TVLand version was taped about 6 years ago (before TVLand began airing reality shows)...

These water-down program are so cut down, that even the closing credits are now put on the task bar where it would take a magnifying glass to read them, and are shown during the closing scene (more time for useless reality show ads)...

Well, the same has become of The Weather Channel, VH-1, and even Food Network (they replaced "how to cook" shows with their own dumb reality shows and shows that visit the kitcken of a roadside diner - except, like TVLand, for a few hours each day (during the daytime) when they show a few "normal" shows)...

I agree. To tell you the truth I am very disheartened by TVland resorting to this type of programming. Sure it may increase their viewership but the original concept of TVland is swiftly passing. I'm so sad because it used to be my favorite channel.

I couldn't believe TV Land has stooped this low to spew out this garbage. This show is absolutely stupid. We have enough trashy dating shows on VH1. Why keep shoving this crap down our throats.

reply

They keep swearing this reality stuff is what their
desired demographic - people 40-55 years old want to watch.
Now, can anyone here picture any folks they know in that age
group settling down for the evening to watch "The Cougar" or
"High School Reunion"?
...yeah, me neither.

I get sick of the obnoxious commercials for this crap. You want to watch Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke, or some other good show and every breaks starts with ads for some reality show garbage. High School Reunion is particularly annoying. Maybe TVLAND could try to produce a good comedy or bring back arrested development. I know "reality" is cheap, but it is UNWATCHABLE!

Why dont you people who call this show Trash; look at yourseves in the Mirror !!! then you really will see what Trailer Trash is !!!!

Dude,
It probably took you 5 or so minutes to write your post.
In all that time, you mean to tell me that little voice inside your head
never once said: "what I am typing is making no sense at all"?

They're outright liars Spycat. I'm 48 years old and I hate that reality garbage. And I don't know of anybody else in my age group who likes this crap. On top of that, everybody I know who used to watch TVLand are sick and tired of the way they chop up the 'classic shows' and then hardly show the ending credits at all. I watch TVLand now and then, but as soon as I can collect all of the DVDs of the great old classics like The Andy Griffith Show, Leave it to Beaver and Green Acres, I won't waste my time with them anymore.

The unfortunate obstacle for us is that what's making this show a hit are viewers who are *NOT* TVLand regulars. Because people are channel surfing or notice it on their program guide, they tune in and drive up the ratings. You could put this drek on The Weather Channel and it would score as high.

But, lucky for us, in its stead, other networks are sort of replacing TVLand for me. Hallmark and my local UHF station are now carrying Andy, Cheers, Frasier, MASH, Golden Ghouls, whatever you want. And with most of those on dvd along with all the Wings, Cheers, some Family Ties, the Night Courts I traded for and the Growing Pains I taped myself, TVL and Nick can eat grilled toejam.

I must admit though...I watched this Cougar thing for the unintenional laughs.

I agree. I cannot believe the garbage that they show on TVLand. The classic TV shows that they do show are practically unwatchable. It is like the same shows that have been airing for the past 5 years. The shows are chopped down and overloaded with on screen promos. They promote and shove these stupid reality shows down your throat so much that you just want to turn the channel. It is almost as if they've abandoned their loyal viewers for temporary rating spikes.

I remember when TVLand first premiered, it was terrific. They had great shows, retro ads, and fewer commercials and promos. Unfortunately, greed has prevailed and it has become an absolute embarrassment. I just pray that people will follow my lead and stop watching. I've put several posts on the TVLand site forums expressing my opinions, none of which contained any remotely offensive content, and the forum administrator took them down within days. If you go to the forums, they are filled with posts like this one and the ones above but yet nothing changes. So that is a lost cause. Low ratings will have to do the talking.
