best case scenario for the women?

George is basically done for (unless there happen to be some gay japanese soldiers) but what would be the best case scenario for the women?

reply

I'm guessing that as 'virgin schoolgirls' they were saved for high ranking officers and not lowly soldiers.

So...best case scenario? The really attractive ones spend the rest of the war either as some General's mistress or only servicing other officers. Troublemakers and older, less attractive girls would first service officers, then lower ranks, and would be lucky to survive the war.

Either way they're subject to attack by allied forces and any that survive the war are probably rejected by their fellow Chinese as 'fraternizing' with the enemy (even though it wasn't voluntary).

While reading your answer I got the feeling you had fallen asleep during the last bits of the movie. Actually, the movie gives a hint that no woman survives that party night. I do like your idea of "high ranking officers", because that is what the women get prepared for. They plan to take down at least one Japanese soldier, preferably high ranking one with themselves using the sharp piece of broken mirror.

To support my argument, we have this George guy, who is definitely going to be an issue once Japanese discover his true identity. After that, probably they would go into detailed investigation uncovering the whole "identity-theft" operation. And if you still believe the women would survive that night given the fact how crazy Japanese soldiers were about raping and killing then you are the optimistic optimist. ;)

I thought the women (and George) were all prepared to die. They all took weapons with them and planned to 'fight' till the end I guess.

Best case scenario? George is killed after the women are in the officers chambers. The women kill the officers and are then executed when they are found out.

I highly doubt they would be able to escape

This is a work of fiction - and Communist propaganda at that.
