I just played the demo on ps3; it looks great. I read the original poem and can forgive the developers for changing Dante to a crusader (tough to make an action game about a poet on a tour) the demo only takes you to the gate of hell but there were some screen shots and it looks pretty accurate to the poem
shareI think Dante would forgive that change as well , since the game and its animated film adaptation none too subtly challenge the idea one man can absolve sins ( Dante isn`t actually the one doing the absolving , it`s the holy spirit through Beatrice`s cross , this is especially demonstrated in the way the animated film , unlike the game , has Dante unable to absolve Francesco as his sins of jealousy , wrath , violence and betrayal of his own conscience during The Crusades weigh too heavily on his soul , which IMHO is far more realistic for that particular character ) . Not to mention the none-too-subtle implication that The Crusades were the work of The Devil , something the real Dante strongly believed .
