Gohan: The Annoyer??

Okay original DBZ'ers, I've a question for you...

So, I've grabbed up most of the steelbooks after being exposed to the sliced and diced DBZ movies via Nicktoons. For the most part, loved them - even with their quick kill-shot fight endings and the debated Falconer scoring. Personally, Fusion Reborn is a favorite because, along with the fantastic otherworld styling, it's the one movie out of those I've seen that most-includes my boy Vegeta.

(do have to say, though, that Nicktoons turned out to be wise in their more-than-likely-PC decision kill all that Hitler noise - first it was clever, then it just got stupidly distracting)

Though it is a favorite, there was one thing hated within both Fusion, then Wrath of the Dragon: GOHAN. Given Goku's selflessness and sense of sacrifice permeating the whole DBZ saga, to see Gohan's obnoxious super-hero posing along side that chick Vidal just made me want to shut it off. In those, I could get around him and still enjoy the rest of the story; however, I don't know what to expect now that we're pretty sure Funimation will be ending the Kai revisions at the end of Cell.

I've been reading up on the story thread for the Manjin/Buu saga, and am seriously considering grabbing the Dragon Boxes to see the continuation of Vegeta's personal struggle story. One thing I don't know, though, is which Gohan I'd be in for while trying to watch those stories. Will it be Piccolo's ever-developing disciple who wants to/finally does emulate his dad or that obnoxious, look-at-me, head scarf and sunglass wearing buffoon from Fusion and Wrath? If somebody could fill me in, that'd be great.

danke!

Wha-?? Never is it ever stated that Gohan wanted to be like his father, in fact it's kinda the opposite considering he point-blank tells he doesn't like fighting for the same reasons as his blood-knight father.

I think whats confusing youis probably all those filler scenes Toei put in to make look like Gohan wanted to become a fighter like all the others but are eventually ret-conned by the scene stated above.

IMO Gohan's development is opposite of what you stated. He starts out as obnoxious, whiny, cry-baby son of a bitch (which is why I prefer Cinkenbeard's Voice to either Naldony or Henderson's) and later (the Boo arc to be exact) becomes more willing to fight if necessary. But never is it stated that he wants to be like his father, he wants to become a "great scholar", remember?

Wha-??? Never is it stated in my question that I was talking about the whining infant Gohan that we first meet at 4yrs old. I was talking about the Gohan we see developing into a fighter who joins his dad in the time chamber coming out to happily dress as his original master AFTER fighting Freiza, AFTER wanting to help fight the androids, for the SOLE purpose as "be(ing) as strong as (you)" in the fight with Cell. I knew I was taking a chance in asking a so-called expert a question but, DAMN!

I will, however, offer you my thanks because- in all of your misreading assumptive pedanticalness -you did, however, actually manage to answer my question as to which Gohan shows up in Buu. It may actually be worth watching after all.

You're a major douche -- I wonder if you're aware of that or if your blatant arrogance just blinds you to what is right in plain sight.

Who are you talking to and, more importantly, why? First, I happened to be defending myself. Second, your opinion on the subject wasn't asked for and, given you're some random person sitting at a computer somewhere, it's completely worthless. All you've said of yourself is "I'm an idiot with nothing else to do".

Gohan was a bit annoying during the Saiyan saga of DBZ Kai
but hes awesome during his fight against cell

If you want to see gohan at his very best, try the Cell Games Saga
