dbz vs. db kai

From someone who has seen both versions of the show in their entirety, excluding the buu saga as it is not finished in kai yet, give me their honest opinion on which you think is better and why.

Im Going for Dragon Ball Z Kai
It's 10 times Better than The Late Ocean Dub version of Dragon Ball Z

reply

I have seen parts from the ocean dub, and yeah the ocean dub is pretty terrible.

reply

i agree
Late Ocean Dub is the English Dub version of DBZ That i Hate
But the Japanese version was worth Watching (if only we had the DBZ DVD Set)

reply

Yo I actually do have all the DBZ seasons, the Funimation "orange boxes" But I did not choose to watch it with the Japanese music or voice. Not my taste. I wanted the full blown nostalgia trip.

Kai is better.

Get's rid of all that filler nonsense (well most of it anyway)
The voice acting is way better such as Frieza's voice is the way it should have been.
Japanese music is still better than Faluconer's junk that ruins the other dub

reply

DBZKai all the way for me. I used to like Bruce Faulconer's music for DBZ since it was the first that I heard (besides Shuki Levi), but after listening to the original score by Shunsuke Kikuchi, Faulconer's music just makes the show feel weird to me now, like it's not even DBZ but rather a different series altogether. Faulconer still has some really good pieces though. Vegeta's Super Saiyan theme stands out the most. Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 theme where he is about to beat the 5 remaining cell juniors. Goku's Super Saiyan theme, Super Buu's theme, and Perfect Cell's theme.

The only thing I don't like about Kai is the soundtrack. Of course I wouldn't have minded that much had they kept some of the Ginyu filler, but that really doesn't matter that much.
Other than that, Kai is far better. As much as I liked the majority of DBZ, the audio is way too damn censored. I love how Kai actually has quite a bit of swearing.
To be completely honest, after watching Kai, I'm not sure if I ever want to watch Z again.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested

Kai is nothing but 'Damn it!" Which most of the time the actors sound uncomfortable saying like wtf we all say damn it

reply

Definitely Kai. Kai has better voice acting, animation, and it cuts down all the filler. The show improves ten-fold when we are not wasting three straight episodes of Goku and the villain just trash talking or doing one power attack move that won't even work.

reply

Kai no questions asked and the dub has great voice acting and the translation is way better
