Continuity error?

Consider the scene in which Bruno talks with his friend Victor and then vomits.

How does Bruno's friend Victor learn that he's interested in guys? Bruno hasn't told anyone of his love except Pablo himself.

"Anyway, Bruno, there's something I don't understand. All of a sudden you like guys?"

I suspect there's a deleted scene (perhaps the one in which the cigarette lighter doesn't light?) with more conversation between the two.

Can anyone offer a clue?

I always understood that Victor was Bruno's best friend/confidante. He knew from the get-go that Bruno was going to try to play with Pablo's feelings to mess up his relationship with his (Bruno's) ex. I always assumed they had the sort of friendship which allowed Bruno the ability to be honest about his developing feelings for Pablo. A good example of this ease in their relationship is seen when, earlier on (before the party where Bruno/Pablo flirt incessantly and joke about being 'boyfriends'), Bruno tells Victor that he has seen Pablo in the gym and he is 'a big boy'. Victor answers back 'well, lucky you! You're such a fag...' etc.

Anyway, that is my long-winded way of saying - I think Bruno was comfortable enough with Victor to confide in him. :)

We were both right. I just got the DVD (UK version) with the extras: deleted scenes, interviews, etc. and indeed, Bruno and Victor have more conversations which didn't make the final cut.

The UK version is available at
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plan-B-DVD-Manuel-Vignau/dp/B003S4LEN2

and it beats the US and Netflix's version hands down.

Another reason I love this film is the photography, and the US version is muddy and toned down, while the UK version is crisp and clear. Big difference! Also, the sound track is better and the subtitled translations are a bit better, too.

Now I wish I had the UK version. :(
In the version I bought (presumably the US one), the picture is grainy and dim, yet the dvd menu picture is crisp and clear with saturated colors. I always wondered about this. Now I know that I got the screwed up version, lol

I would buy the UK version in a heartbeat but I wonder if it will play outside Europe. I would so love to check out the deleted scenes and interviews.

Are you in the US? If so, do you have a 'universal' dvd player or how did you manage the region stuff? :)

The DVD menu is in Technicolor AND Kodachrome just to attract attention. I don't think you'd WANT to see a movie with that degree of color saturation!

But you've obviously seen and understand the difference, though. The UK version I mentioned is a Region 2 DVD, which means most set-top players in the US won't play it. However many computers can, especially if they use a video playback program like VLC Player and not the default Windows Media Player. Given a little savvy, ahem, it can be played back on a big screen as the film was meant to be shown.

Price from Amazon.co.UK, including shipping to the US, is cheaper than buying the US version from Amazon.com! You just have to wait a couple weeks.... <sigh>

EDIT:

Also, in addition to better color, the UK version also has better resolution, so it's a crisper and cleaner picture.

The sound is less muddy, too.

And the subtitled translations, as far as my limited ear for Spanish are concerned, are better.

Thanks a bunch for the info. :)
I think I'll be getting the UK version!

The UK version is also in PAL (24 frames a second) vs NTSC (30 frames a second)

Some people notice a flicker, but many do not. PAL also has 17% more vertical lines (for higher resolution).

Unfortunately, I do notice a flicker with PAL's slower frame rate. Any movie over 2 hours in PAL without a break will give me a headache. :(

But this movie is less than 2 hours (The UK version has an extra 3 minutes) and is the best resolution we can get until we can get an HD version on blu-ray.

I use http://www.amazon.com/SHARP-BD-AMS20-All-Region-Player/dp/B00AFCA7GA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2PJFKDTHGD9FK&coliid=INY86W9827NC0 to watch any Blu-ray/dvd
