"Fantastic Lies" was well done

As a North Carolinian and Duke fan, I was really interested to see how this documentary was made....I was glad to see it was factual. It was appalling to see how horribly the case was handled, from day one...and not just by detectives, but the district attorney, the crime lab, the university, the community, etc. I loved that some of the people who had openly spoke out against the team and the coach were interviewed and admitted that they had jumped the gun. Well done.

I watched it and it was also shows still how much of it affects people. At the end so many important people relevant to the case declined to be interviewed. I understand the boys but just departments and people are trying to distance themselves from this mess.

I also liked what the producer did with the parents.

It was incredibly well done. I did not follow the story very closely at the time but I watched it unfold. To see the actual details of Mike Nifong's misconduct shocked me. I have seen stories of prosecutorial misconduct before, but this took the cake. He deserved his disbarment.

He deserved prison. He was trying to put innocent people in prison for the rest of their lives just for personal gain. I think he should have gotten whatever the lacrosse players would have gotten if they had been found guilty.

Disgusting human being. Absolute garbage.

If I lie in court it's a felony. If a DA does it...slap on the wrist.

I'm not a Duke fan at all, and I thought it was possibly the best 30 for 30 yet.

I never knew a lot of the shocking facts that came out in the end of this fiasco of a case. It is sad how this affected so many lives. Well made doc!

Top 3 for sure in the 30 for 30 series. I suspect that if you ask the average joe on the street about Duke lacrosse they'll still answer that they remember something about them raping a stripper. The fact that they were exonerated didn't seem to be on the 24h news cycle as much as the presumption of their guilt. Their innocence didn't give all the usual blowhards as much fuel to grind their own agendas. I wonder if these kids every got an apology from Jessie Jackson, for example?

I LOVED this one! I watched it primarily because I couldn't remember the resolution of the news story. It's insane that the initial outrage was screamed loud enough to be heard across the world. But, the resolution, where the masses were proven alarmist and idiotic, was a whisper nobody heard. Just shows how much humanity enjoys taking responsibility for its actions and admitting its mistakes.

My favorite part was where the defense gets the DNA test result raw data dumped on them and the one lawyer spends a week building a working understanding of all of the complexities of it to the point he can have an unprepared, intelligent conversation with a PhD about it while under intense pressure. I'm not sure why he didn't just call a scientist. But hey, I appreciate the elbow grease.

Well said. This is why the media needs to shut up until all the facts are in. The masses can wait. We want the FULL story. If you are missing 95% of the story then it really doesn't matter who's "first".

That was also my favorite part. Just seeing Neifong's face when he knew it was starting to fall apart was priceless.
