Battle by the Moon. Two things

Earth's defence/security must be on their day off, I guess. You'd think someone might have come to check out the goings on, quick smart. I hope there were serious questions asked in the aftermath.

Also, If they are orbiting with the moon as certainly seemed to be the case, why would they suddenly fall towards Earth?

...then whoa, differences...

Abrams is a talented hack, that's for sure.

Why is that hackery? They were on the way back to earth when they were caught by the Admiral - the head of Star Fleet. He could have easily had all of the security stand down so he wouldn't be seen.

And, I seem to recall that the moon's gravity is significantly less than the earth's, and the earth pulls on the moon. If the momentum is heading towards the earth....

reply

One minute they are by the moon, the next they are by the Earth. It took the Apollo astronauts three days to get to the Moon.

reply

Were the Apollo astronauts using impulse power or thrusters?

reply

Yeah you would expect at least some message warning from earth but nope, they just grabbed the popcorn and watched.
