Did anyone else find Yvon a tad ungrateful?

What's that guy got to be moody about, right? Zen buddhist my a**!

I mean it's all very well to get super minted like these clowns, in a fashion bye the way, that's
got to be just about the minimum sacrifice a person's gotta make for said riches.

I think people always assume that guys like this have done something no one else has. WRONG. They just got more rich and famous than all the other innovators and marketed the hell outa stuff 'that people don't need' (big of you to admit that Doug).

So thanks Doug and Yvon for your fantastic lives, don't worry the rest of us will stay caged up in rat cellars in the sky and try to consume less so that your garden don't get spoiled. Unless that is you wanna pay for 7 billion of us to take a holiday down there...

PHEW, glad to get that off my chest.

Thanks for listening.

Peace. (at $1000 a sq. meter) .

I watched this movie last night and I have to agree with you about Yvon. There's a part in the movie when they talk about all the conservation and environmental progress that Doug had made and Yvon said something along the lines of "well I'm glad Doug does that, I more of a relaxed type of person". The man is a multi-millionaire and has nothing more to say about the place his brand "Patagonia" originated? Shows you what his real intentions are. But on the contrary, he does help Jeff try to accomplish his dream, which by no means was necessary, he is 70.
I think you're attacks on Doug although are unfair. He purchased 2,000,000 sq. miles to preserve the place he loves, hell he even lives there.

Thanks firstly, for you are the first person, after many posts, to agree with anything I have written. My point of view is obviously based on a vague political stance, which is not like an opinion on, for instance the language of a film which is somewhat objective. To my sensibility I find the idea that I have been unfair or should feel grateful to a man that can buy 2,000,000 sq miles of paradise, slightly insane. If you were being ironic with that last statement, 'hell he even lives there', it would be genius, I mean he bought the land he loves, so of course he lives there, who wouldn't. But besides that remember that film even documentary's are not the truth, we don't know these people and have no way of knowing what they really do or think. All we can know is the facts, like 2,000,000 sq miles is almost a universe of difference from the 0 sq miles that the majority of the world owns (because of rich people being legally allowed to by all the land and it's resources and sell or rent it back at a higher price to those that need it to stay alive). I'm not a communist because I also buy into the delusion that somehow someday I also might be able to own a piece of paradise and feel good about it at the same time, appearing on documentaries wearing a 20 year old jumper making me look like 'Salt of the Earth'!

I agree partially with what you said there. But it didn't make me not like the movie. I was ****ing captivated by the whole thing. Yeah it is a bunch of neo-hippies but I would kill to do what they did. I thought it was pretty cool, at first how Doug and Yvon acted humble and non-materialistic but it got old fast when they started talking down to other people who don't live like they do.

Me neither brother, I also enjoyed the film, and also buy into the dream (literally). But thats just it, without millions of us buying into a dream, we most probably will never be able to realize, people like Yvon could not live it themselves. I just think that a little more recognition, from those that do get the opportunity (through our sponsorship), would be nice for a change.

reply

You want to recognized...for what?

As much you want to believe it in your little angry world, Yvon does not live his life to show you up.

It is up to each of us to chose our path. You might want to give yours some thought.

reply

'you want to recognized' doesn't even make sense.

I'll reserve taking life coaching from ppl who aren't idiots thanks.
