the music

I enjoyed 180 South, but could have done without all the indie music that just kept on playing in every scene! To me, it ruined the beauty of that was being captured.

This movie used a lot of early Modest Mouse works. Which was very cool.
The music sort of fit the flow of the movie. Reminded me a lot of Eddie Vedders' soundtrack for Into the Wild.
Would you say the music was inappropriate there (even though it wasn't a documentary)

Great movie.

I agree with the OP. They definitely should have replaced all the amazing songs by Isaac with Guns n Roses, maybe some Journey. Damn hipsters and their appreciation of subtlety. I'm all for music hitting me in the face like a sledgehammer and having as much artistic merit as a Twinkie wrapper.

Enjoyed and recognized most of the tracks, heard a few nice and unknowns also. But the pace really became annoying, especially after the hour mark, this constant flow of yet another giddy indiepop music video moment. Wish they'd cut half of them and scored more carefully with remaining tracks instead (like surfer track or mountain track f.x.)

Otherwise a fine, patient feel between footage, style and narration.
