Max Payne 4

Do you think there should be a Max Payne 4? Do you think there ever will be a Max Payne 4? What should it be about?

reply

I was thinking about it just after I beat Max Payne 3. If there ever was a Max Payne 4,it should be the last one,and it could involve Max returning back to New York and deal with the Demarco mob. It should follow the madness into the night scenario from the previous games, where it takes place over a night and eventally lead up to his death, that would be perfect.

I think Europe could be a decent environment for the game. He could always track down the investors of the organ trade he stumbled into, since it seems like bronco was assassinated in prison. The end of the game really felt like a setup for another game. Then he is half crazy, since I'm pretty sure that retired cop that kept showing up was a projection of what his life could have been like (the guy's daughter is flying in from college/Max thinks he is overweight).

But I think it would be cool to see Max go out on an almost absurd level, like show how the same investment group was profiteering off both the organ trade and the V drug.

This is not an exit.

I've an idea for Max Payne 4.It's really big though to write it here!!!

Last one? Why? I'd rather have more than 4 games. It's not like all of a sudden he's 80 years old. They can make him younger/older, and do tons of different games. Of course the series would be different, but my point is... It doesn't have to end. I'd rather have 5 more Max Payne games if they're all great, than 1 last game. As long as I'm entertained... That's all that matters for me.

"I felt like a character in a Ramond Chandler story, or one of those dime store pulp magazines. But then I had amassed a body count of hundreds; worthy of any eighties action hero - a parody of one even - and just as much of a joke. I often found myself gliding through corridors, gun in hand, blasting away bad guys like I had arcade fever and a high score to maintain. Ever since that night... An essembly line of bloody corpses and bullet wounds. But I always walked away. I wouldn't have been surprised if someone told me this was hell, and I'd been killed long ago. What better punishment but to force a man through the worst trials of his life, on an endless cycle, pushing him towards an illusory conclusion he'd already reached; else he wouldn't be there."

I don't forsee a Max Payne 4. I think finally Max is at peace with himself after MP3.

I do, however, see a possible prequel either before the events of Max Payne 1 or in between the eight years that separate Max Payne 2 and 3.

hmm according to Alan Wake, there is an indirect reference to Max Payne where the main character finds a letter that is narrated by james mccafrey in which is read in the same max payne monotone stylee, and states that he is about to die. Its not an official link to max payne but it seemed such a final goodbye to the character and ive alwayss envisioned max payne dieing like that. As for the prequels, they wouldnt work, between max payne 2 and max payne 3 hes off the force and gets addicted to painkillers and alcohol,he doesnt seem like he would get in trouble or something. And before max payne, meh i dont see any potential from there, maybe the rise of max payne in how he started off the police but that would be to boring,i dont see much of a dark story attached to it.

Depending on sales and how long Rockstar wants to keep Max Payne alive, they'll make another one. Since the Fall was 2 years after the 1st, and the 3rd being 8 years after the Fall. To live up to Max's death depicted in Alan Wake, if they want the 4th game to be the final Max Payne game, it should be 3 years after the 3rd and it should be about the mob wanting to finish what they started in the 3rd. Basically another revenge tale, but i think it's poetic justice. In the manuscripts in Alan Wake, Max said 13 years after he got his revenge IT finally caught up with him. They could do the 4th game to take place in between the 3rd and the remaining 3 years Max supposedly has left.

Slow cheetah come, it's so euphoric. No matter what they say.

That would be genious, honestly I couldnt think of a better game than that. It should have Remedy co developing it just to give and lend more authenticity and originality to the character, but still being developed by Rockstar. It would be an amazing, tragice and well put end to one of the most darkest, tragic and haunting video game character of all time,Max Payne would finally find peace by succombing to the grip of death.

It could work....

Like I proposed before, in between MP2 and MP3, (flashbacks, etc.). Maybe with the finale a year or two after the events of MP3.

It is possible perhaps Max is up on some other private security job in Europe perhaps an Eastern European country or maybe some Far Eastern country like China or Korea or any South East Asian Country.

Max Payne 3 up against South American organ leggers was a change of pace I found welcome because lets face it the Italian-American Mafia is on the decline and they are losing ground to almost everybody including the Russians, Eastern Europeans, Black and mixed raced gangs, the Asian gangs etc.

It all depends on how well 3 sold. If 3 sold great, there will be a 4th, if the 3rd didnt reach their expectations, there wont be a 4th. So it all depends on sales, honestly.

reply

Most of Rockstar Games' catalogue has sold well. As it stands, Max Payne 3 sold a little over 2 million copies. I think a report was issued months in advance before the game was release that they expected the game to sell 4 million. 2 million is still a lot, and I just hope this doesnt detract Rockstar from making a sequel. Maybe will just have to go through another drought before we see a sequel, but after the great critical reviews Max Payne 3 got, I am sure another sequel has been discussed within Rockstar.

I would like there to be a Max payne 4, but only if they stop borking the fun with the "cinematic" crap like cutscenes every time you open the door.

Again, your "cinematic" argument is invalid. Max Payne has ALWAYS been a cinematic game.
