Better make into an 8-episodes TV drama

As a game, MP3 is way too boring. Although it has stunning story as usual, and great charactors, but those un-skippable cut scenes and monotony gameplay is very annoying.

I'm a crazy fan of Max Payne 1+2, thought I would love this one, turns out my love isn't that great.

So the story is stunning but you want to skip the cut scenes.....?

reply

Well, they clearly wanted to make a movie, should have just done that instead.

If you havent noticed, the original games were developed so that you were actually playing a movie. Both Max Payne and Max Payne 2 were heavily influenced by movies like film noir stories of the 40's and 50's, and hard-boiled baction thrillers like John Woo films. Max Payne 3 followed suit, whereby they made the game like a movie. There is nothing wrong with that, as most games now these days are built as a cinematic experience. Anyone complaining about that truly doesnt appreciate the series, the original games, and what Rockstar was trying to accomplish. Max Payne 3 was a phenomenal game.

No. If anything they were designed to look like a visual novel. Nior stories with heavily verbose explanation of events and atmosphere building via narration.

You are right that many games nowadays are built like this, which is why many modern games are awful experiences to play.

Well-known comics such as Sin City sure might have been influence, but it could also just be a coincidence. They settled on the graphic style cutscenes as a comprimise when they didn't have enough in the budget to make full on cutscenes.

I don't agree with that. Most games now these days use cincematic influences and are built like that and shine in that regard. Take games like Uncharted, The Last of Us, Bioshock, Metal Gear Solid, all these games are built with top notch cinematic influences in them and they are all amazing. Not sure what kind of games you play, though I have a feeling I know which ones, but you are wrong when you say that.
