WOW! This show looks like total crap!

I just saw a preview snippet with Lana Parrilla (who I loved in "Swingtown") on the Late Late Show and it was just terrible. It's a third rate Grey's Anatomy wannabe (and that show couldn't suck enough!). Doubt it will last more than a month.

Sitting through pilot. Cliche 101 class project. Ho hum. Oh, what is that! oooo its the baby's heartbeat! (gag, retch)

Its also very predictable. guy pulls piece of glass out of neck at accident scene (they focus in on it when he does it) I knew right then that at some point in the episode that was going to come back to bite him.

reply

It's pretty bad, it's mostly a bunch of sappy personal stories with a slight medical twist. It's got every cliche you could think of all in one episode so far, I don't see how they can even make another episode. The lighting is like CSI: Miami, which is silly enough on that show but in a hospital? And the cinematography is claustrophobic, like they're trying to hide something.

Even with all the sappiness, there's no connection to the characters, and they're all too young to be doing what they're doing. Well, they're not _all_ too young, but there are too many too young people at once. There's only one grey haired guy on an entire trauma staff? And he's not even part of the team when the show begins. And the rest look to be in their mid-twenties.

Oh god, the dialogue is cringeworthy as I'm watching it right now, really embarrassingly cloying. Even Mercy is better than this.

I'm hoping Trauma somehow pulls out and makes it at least another year, and then surely it will gain traction for the long haul. It's the best of the new crop of medical shows - the whole package of writing, acting, production values, realism (enough), and characters.

reply

I didn't think it was too bad. It was only the pilot. Character and story development take some time. Everyone's entitled to his or her opinion, and I'm not saying anyone here is wrong, but personally I'm going to give this one a chance.

Such nonsense. There is hardly any medicine in it. Just a bunch of cheerleaders and hunks in scrubs.

reply

I got the very same impression. Those people looked like a bunch of school drop outs, and surely not like "cool" doctors they pretended to be.

reply

What do you mean "only the pilot"? The pilot is often the sharpest if not the best episode an average series ever has. After all, its before the writing fatigue sets in, and it is supposed to SELL the show. How this thing sold anything must be a measure of the force of a schedule vacuum so intense that can suck in anything nearby even if the thing itself sucks just as much. (Or some murky exchange of favors past, present or future among the business types behind the scenes.)

well you must be in the minority since 6 to seven million people have been watching tis every week, even after the news of cancellation wsa released.

Six or seven million people in this most discerning of modern nations would watch a Kardashian "use the water closet" (in place of intended more direct language that might violate the IMDB Terms and Conditions that alliterates somewhat with Kardashian and is found in the title of this thread).

So what?

I am not sure that even makes me part of a minority, there are more than six or seven million viewers not watching or at least never watching again, this now gratefully defunct excuse of a TV show.

This is from Bruckheimer? This has been given 11 episodes?

... Do they have a version of the Razzies for TV? If they do, this wins. Hands down.

No TIVO for this POS.

Not the worst show I've ever seen, but definitely not good either. I couldn't even find three minutes worth of the episode that held my attention - my mind kept wandering and I ended up doing other things while only somewhat paying attention due to a lack of... I'm not sure exactly, but a lack of a lot of things I think.

To think that Numb3rs may have ended for this crap is truly pathetic!

LOL!!! That is funny, but I hear what you're saying. I kind of felt the same way.

First off, I think this show grossly miscast. I think I may watch the next episode, but if doesn't get better, that's it for me. It will be back to back to back episodes of King of the Hill on Adult Swim.

It's not often that a show moves me to go online and post a comment on it, but this one did -

Is it just me or did anyone else think they where watching Scrubs for the first 30 seconds???? Was that supposed to be sexual chemistry between the buxon brunette and the blonde trying not to look delibertly scruffy male doctor???? And the newest doctor, three months in the team, that very very young looking blonde girl, are we supposed to believe she's old enough to have finished high school let alone work in a high pressure medical ward???? Hope she's never my dotor!!!

I tried to watch this objectively (huge Numb3rs fan) but that was about the worst medical procedure pilot I've ever seen (okay, there are probably worse, but can't think of any at the moment).

Really disappointed in CBS for airing this show. The only highlight for me was the first head doctor (names are not my forte) at the start, love his acting, very good flip out impression too lol!!

Needless to say, will not be wasting time of the second episode. Do hope that Trauma stays around though, after a "not so good" pilot, it has really found it's feet and sneaked into my favourites list :D

PS - yes, there are probably spelling mistakes above, and, no I don't care :P

The actress who plays the young blonde doctor (Elisabeth Harnois) is 31 years old! She was born in the same year as the young blonde male doctor (Mike Vogel). Strange that no one worries about his qualification as a doctor. Funny that you confirm the prejudices that the series is about. Maybe it's not that bad after all. ;-)

It's a pity that you didn't watch the second episode because it was better than the pilot. I like the characters, the interaction between them and their strange dialogues and I think it's worth watching it.

Show is really great! Loving it! Getting better each episode.

If you go back and watch the pilot of House, it's pretty bad too. Hugh Laurie even slips up and says a word in his British accent a few times.

I like medical dramas so I'm going to wait a few more episodes before judging this one. The acting seems decent enough but it's got a lot of the cliche CSI camera work which kind of cheapens it for me. Hopefully it will be better tonight.

I loved this episode: we had the requisite 'Cuba sucks' which of course is obviously necessary cause it's set in Miami, we had a moronic doctor telling a guy to turn his head when she realized he'd been shot in the back of the neck, and then the same moron saying at the end 'I knew exactly what he was going to do before he did it'. Yeah I think we all did, dumba**, it was kind of obvious. Anyone watching could see that that would be the simplest solution. People don't need 2 kidneys, you are not having any luck fixing it, it's causing her to go into cardiac arrest... what do you do? REMOVE IT! Duh

RIP 2009. Bad year for Celebrities. Now Haiti too

Boring piece of crap. I know it's a bruckheimer/cbs/miami series. i can assume cuba is evil theme. you know maybe its true in cuba people are suffering, they are poor, they have nothing, politicians are devil. what a poor country right beside land of dreams!!!

But there is one more true fact that even Andy Garcia cant ignore that is Cuba has one of most developed health care system in the world. So "my mom is sick in Cuba and can't buy medicine so i steal for her." thing just a *beep*

I know that. And for this reason - because the Batista regime was terrible - there are still people in Cuba who defend the Castro regime. Nevertheless Cuba is a police state where the population is bullied by the authorities.

For example a friend told me that Cubans are not allowed to visit their own capital - you need a permission to do so. In Oliver Stone's documentary Fidel Castro was asked if there is a secret police in Cuba (spys in the neighbourhood) and he denied it. A friend who is married to a Cuban told us that of course this does exist. And so on.

Really keep trying to like this Series

Could have had great potential

Interesting concept and fairly well crafted

But except for the British Guy

Everyone is way too young and pretty

Hospital filled with beautiful 25 Year Old Doctors ?

Hard pill to swallow
.

However, in light of all the ads from McDonalds

Who seems to be a primary sponsor

This show should please the cultivated palate of their customers
