A couple of questions

Several things puzzled us about this movie:

Who is the red-haired woman with wavy hair, and how does she fit into the family? She is apparently the "aunt" of the two little kids, but how do THEY fit into the family?

Who is the woman in a wedding dress (with gun) in the opening scene, who later turns up dancing at the funeral? Is dancing at funerals an Italian custom?? We thought this woman might be a personification of Death, but that didn't seem to make a lot of sense.

The redheaded woman is the spinster aunt of Tomasso who lives with his father & wife and their mother at the family estate. The two young fat girls are the daughters of Tomasso's sister.

The woman in a wedding dress is the grandmother in "flashback" remembering her youth. As she later tells the maid, she fell in love with (and presumably had an affair with) her fiance's brother. It's the brother she is with when she has the gun at the beginning. The movie's ending shows up what happened, the brother brought the girl back to his brother and she went on with the wedding (there is no dancing at her funeral, this scene is set at her wedding but it ends with her "current" family in attendance with the redhead (her daughter) dancing with the adulterous brother, and the other family members there, an artsy ending tying the two stories together.
