Jesse and Veronica

I really enjoyed the movie and even the ending, for the most part, but Jesse being in love with Veronica doesn't feel true to me, it's like something he's convinced himself that he feels. I believe he was interested in her, but he wasn't in love with her like he claimed.

Let's keep in mind that he only went out with her again, presumably, to "move on" as well as punish Celeste. Although Celeste was an enabler, Veronica comes off better because she didn't have to put up with Jesse's slacker ways for YEARS. So, it feels good not to get criticism, right, and whatever he feels is heightened by that acceptance. But, all throughout the movie, he never says that he's with Veronica because he wants to be and he loves her, no he says that he's with her because he has to make it work for the child and he's marrying so she can get a green card. Only at the end does he say that he's in love and it's not even believable. Nothing in his voice, eyes, not even a little smile. Oh, and Jesse also probably wanted to stay around because he believed Celeste didn't want to have his baby, but Veronica was.

I'm not saying that Jesse and Celeste had to get back together, but I just don't believe that Jesse was in love with Veronica. I do like Veronica, but Jesse doesn't seem to feel the feelings he claims.

I know that there are some others who say that we see this from Celeste's perspective, but I disagree. Most of Jesse's interaction with Veronica screamed of obligation and duty, not someone who was in love and enjoyed being with a woman who was also carrying his child. He smiled way more around Celeste, even after their relationship started to drift apart, than he did Veronica. Jesse even showed more enthusiasm for his child than being with Veronica. There were two times I bought his feelings for Veronica: when they bumped into one another at the bookstore and their lunch when he was ignoring Celeste. Other than that, he didn't seem happy.

"And even with Will dead, the love triangle is not over."

I just watched it again and yea I feel the same as you Jesse doesnt really love that new girl veronica he is just staying and agrees to everything because he think he needs to because he is the father of the children she is carrying ... But deep inside he still loves celeste and always will and that connection they have is unique ... Which both of them didnt really appreciate until now that they are apart and move on their separate ways.. Sad movie.. I feel this weird thing everytime I see this movie ..

You're right. he wasn't happy. He probably wasn't in love with her. But he made a baby with her; hence, his obligation: shows he matured. Too late for Celeste, though.

There's really no way to say whether he was or wasn't. Pretty much after the scene he announced Veronica's pregnancy, the movie becomes 80% concerned with Celeste. I'm pretty sure we only see one scene between Jesse/Veronica, then we see Veronica again at the wedding.

They definitely seemed to like each other throughout and both were glowing when they ran into one another at the library, talking about their "amazing" night.

Well, your interpretation is not wrong. Jesse confirmed that he was committed to making it work with Veronica, and that is exactly what he was doing. It might not be the biggest true love in the grand history of romances, but he wanted to do right by her.
