Best episode yet

I've been picking up on the stories that he talked about tonight through the internet and generally ignoring details.
BTW I also nevr watch TV news or read newspapaers, I seek out my news from certain places online and as I say pick up on general stuff from headlines that I usually have little interest in pursuing further knowledge of.

The reason I mention this, is because all the stuff in the show tonight, I knew of, but hadn't paid any attention to on actual news broadcasts.

I found watching this tonight the best way possible (literally) to learn about it all.
This show is so much more important than it will ever get credit for, and I really want to get my news this way forever - such is how much I enjoyed this episode.
Even Tim Key's poem was quality. Maybe cos it was short.

Newswipe should not be made in regular series format.
It should be on whenever Brooker needs to put it on. Be it a week apart, a fortnight, or whatever - BUT CONSTANT!

Honestly, now this is going into my top 10 favourite shows EVER, which is amazing for me.
It was just a case of being a bit better than Screenwipe - Now it's through the roof.

Hail Charlie!

After the brief mention of the G20 summit and the protests at the start of last week's episode, I was worried Brooker was done with it, which would've been a shame considering how awfully it was handled by all the major news outlets. So I was rather relieved that it was the main focus tonight. It's a mark of Brooker's talent that he can intertwine footage of that infuriating twat and Colin Mochrie lookalike Bill O'Reilly with humorous asides of say... The Stig wanking without losing focus. Plus, there was even room for a track by Queens of the Stone Age in there, which can only be a plus.

Shame the poetry segment has even gotten on my nerves now.

And I agree with you, this needs to be on weekly for most of the year, at least.

Sayonara, not to be confused with cyanide, which is, of course, goodbye in any language.

Yeah the fact that it's really funny also, just makes it even better. (The Stig bit yeah).
I only really talked about the news side, but the humour is spot on aswell.

Last weeks was a bit of a dip for me, just the Adam Curtis bit had me intrigued - but still, that being included made it great.

This one was supreme.
Probably my favourte episode of anything new I've seen for a long time.

I love the regular 'dopey guy' tune that usually plays - this week being the theme to the guy on the SKY BOAT!

A Song for the Deaf - The opening bassline.

Come on, after Wednesday's piece you can't think that the poetry is anything else but a piss take?

I actually think its pretty good satire of pretentious poetry

reply

In a news show though? That and the fact that whichever way you look at it, it just isnt funny . . .

reply

Well I let slip a little chortle.

I don't really think Newswipe can be classed as a news show though. In fact, the whole Tim Key thing reaks of the Young Ones method of getting extra funding by being classed as a variety show and having random musical segments. Possible explanation?

I agree, this was an absolutely stunning bit of TV. The bits about MMR and the protests were painfully true, and the Sky boat was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I especially loved Tony Benn's comment about how they never show the sodding politics speeches, so every political protest gets reduced to a bunch of hippies doing tai chi in the street and HEADWOUND MAN. Seriously, it's no bloody wonder people don't protest any more!

I can't wait for tomorrow night's episode!
