So good.....

If this had enough legs it could be better than Screenwipe.
Not sure if it has, but saying that I'd be delighted if every month Charlie came on and dissected all the nonsense of the last 28 days and gave his take on what it all really means and present an alterntive. Perhaps a 45 minute segment.

The news needs to be critically analysed constantly anyway, and who better?

There's something wrong just in the fact that this board is dead.
Either people aren't interested because it's about news, or they don't want their beliefs challenged. Those beliefs being the ones formed BY the news!

Anyway I'm loving this show so much.

I think the board is dead (Well pretty much dead) because it was only recently created and the BBC seem to be trying their darndest to keep this show going without getting any negative attention.

I found the first in the series enjoyable, almost as much as the first episode of Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle. Whereas I've found the quality of that show has already dipped after three episodes, last nights episode of Newswipe is truly the best TV I've seen so far this year. For importance, it's already beaten Screenwipe and if the quality is maintained it could possibly become the best thing Brooker's ever done.

Sayonara, not to be confused with cyanide, which is, of course, goodbye in any language.

Yes.
It's amazing that is the case, seeing as Screenwipe is also so good anyway.
But IT IS better!

This show really speaks to me.

Whilst I agree with the sentiments of Stewart Lee in Comedy Vehicle, I just feel it's a bit too condescending and perhaps because alot of what he says I've already considered and decided on quite a while ago, which for me makes it feel tired.
I suppose it's still a worthy show and will appear good to some people, but it doesn't do it for me at all.
Plus I don't find it funny which = Not interesting & not funny.

Newswipe has it going on across the board, and has elevated my opinion of Brooker even higher.
To me this show is making him one of the most important people in the country.

I think Newswipe is the best program on TV at the moment. Brooker's observations are spot-on, and I admire him for speaking out against the media (and his employers!). It's great to see that other people are wise to the shambling embarrassment that is the British press.

I like Stewart Lee's comedy vehicle too, but have been slightly put off it after the last episode in which he came across as being quite pretentious.

Excellent, amusing, depressing and very necessary... Any intelligent person knows the quality of the news coverage available to us has gone downhill. But, seeing some proper analysis of how and why really does bring it home... This shouldn't be stuck away on late-night BBC4 - it should have a primetime slot on BBC1 or 2.

Fans of Brooker are to be found, usually on his message boards on here.

Personally I think this is quite possibly the most important programme on television at the moment, and it's such an interesting idea to satirise not only the news, but also, and more importantly, satirising the way the news is presented to us. Very very good indeed. As long as there's news, there should be Newswipe.

What's that? You just called me a bastard didn't you!

Reilly 4 - Couldn't have put it better myself.

Important is the key word, and whilst I'm trying to not go total fanboy on Brooker (which is becoming so difficult now), I'd go as far as to say possibly in the top few most important shows EVER!
There, I said it!

Tonight's too was sublime.
I'm finding my outlook is completely in synch with what he is saying, and the choices of features are exactly what I want to be seeing.

The author of Flat Earth News (forget his name), tonight for example totally fits my thinking.
I believe EVERYTHING is orchestrated and we are duped constantly by our media. All this just amounting to news people being the puppets of the puppets (Those puppets being the politicians who are NOT the real people in control - and the media just acting as a department of the Government).

Oh and Cameron copying the Obama "change" angle, is another joke.
I say we need total change, and there will never be real change whilst the same institutions/parties stay in control.

I know I'm moving away from media and Brooker, and apologies, but none of the main parties deserve to EVER be in control again.
We need real change in this country (and the US), and that means giving power to new forces. That's only if those new forces can ever possibly lead without the worlds financial and power elite being the ones who are required to keep happy, instead of the population - otherwise we are doomed.

Pardon the rant.
Newswipe is amazing.

Brilliant series this. I didn't think Screen Wipe could be beaten, but Newswipe is seriously good. I missed a few when they were on, and the torrents I found weren't good quality or massive (HD) downloads but a friend recommended a trading website called DVD247 and they are brillian - seem to have loads of stuff (UK TV comedy, music, documentaries, films etc).

Anyway if you're interested here's the website http://dvd247.tripod.com.

If you can't or don't have anything to trade you can make a small donation to cover the cost of materials etc.
