Gave up on Coens...

I sort of gave up on Coens after this and A Serious Man. Didn't bother watching them in theater. But then they came back and redeemed themselves with Hail, Caesar!

Yes, I know True Grit was nominated for ten Oscars. I don't care. It didn't win a single, though, so its also one of the biggest losers in Oscar's history.

Wow. They're really sorry they perturbed you so badly but are happy that they redeemed themselves.

Tears of joy, I tell you, tears of joy.

This is one of the few remakes that I loved. A film does not have to win an Oscar to be great, in fact, the Oscars are a joke.

reply

the movie itself was okay, but I think it did a hell of better job adapting the original book more than that joke of film with Marion Morrison

I REALLY ENJOYED THE TRUE GRIT REMAKE...ONLY THING HOLDING ME BACK FROM CALLING IT A MASTERPIECE IS MEMEORIES OF THE FUKE AND GLEN CAMPBELL...

I’m the opposite of you when it comes to Coen bros. I loved “A Serious Man” & thought this was good movie. Didn’t even make it through “Hail, Caesar”. Never liked “Burn After Reading” either.

reply

I think this was their best film by far.

reply

A Serious Man was probably their last good movie.
