Something I was a little confused about at the end was whether or not the parents were in on Megan's plan to catch Woody and her step sister. Did they know that she wasn't really dead or did they just find out at the end? The doctor told her parents at the hospital that she had passed (judging by their reactions), but I just wondered if that was all a set up to trick Woody and the step sister. If not, it was pretty awful that her parents had to go through that! (I know it's a bit nitpicky, but I was just wondering...)

I think they were in on it and were aware that Megan was alive and well. After she "died" and Samantha offered to leave with Woody because he "shouldn't be alone right now," they had this look on their face. And when Megan came out of the house while Woody and Samantha were being arrested, they didn't seem shocked.

I think the mute reactions of the parents at the hospital is a red herring. I don't think they were being informed of Megan's death. But how much they were being told of what she had undergone is left to the imagination. I feel sure that at no time did they think that Megan was dead.
