He was way too presumptuous as in sending champagne on her behalf to her employers or calling in to work as sick for her. She should have established boundaries about that early on.
There were signs enough that should have been pursued regarding his behavior.
I agree that these should have been a clue that something was amiss. That, and the 'choices' he made for her, such as the security bars and that she needed more time off from work.
And how about that chair in front of the dressing room when he first meets her?
Where the heck did she think that chair just happened to come from, just happened to WEDGE ITSELF UNDER HER DOOR?!
He didn't know (so she thought) about her past yet but it could have been a sick joke on his part, he was so creepy from the start.
That bug-eyed, unwashed look of his just made my skin crawl.
