Amazing but depressing

I saw it at the Norwgian film festival. It is a great film but in the end it made me sad about humans in general.

reply

Humans in general are fine. It made me sad about some austrian menopaus'd women.

I assume by 1/10 you mean your intelligence compared to other analphabetics. Yay I'm white and don't live in Africa. Thanks mom and dad for not making me black!

If you by "humans" mean us whities, tha yes we will always be fine, but if you by "humans" means all of us who inhabitates this planet then you couldn't be more wrong at least when it comes to the africans, the asians, the south americans and all the women on this planet of course.

This movie is effing brilliant!!! It might be the best the very provokative and innovative Seidl have directed so far.

Us European and American colonialists have alot of thinking to do.

Christ in Heavens, LOL. The 1/10 is part of my signature in case you didn't notice.

Now aplogize like a good boy for being so dumb and assumptious, seeing as I was merely replying to the sweeping generalization of the poster above me who for some reason seemed to think the whole human race was to blame for the misery of the people depicted in the movie, where in fact it was just a bunch of austrian women in menoupause and the local poverty.

But I have a feeling you're just another ignoramus who won't see the forest for the trees so I'm giving you only one chance before you enrich my Ignore list. Use it wisely. :)

I couldn't care less about your ignore list, sorry.

You don't get it. That's sad I think and I'm sorry for you.

The "austrian women in menopause" could have been whities from just about any wealthy country. Haveo you ever heard of colonialism, exploitation and so on?

wow, i knew there was something fishy with humanists :) i'm def' more of a globalist now ( even if i don't really know the definition, yet i'm quite sure my quote/sig defines it somehow :)

anyway i'll enjoy this movie, as i'm sure it's far less depressing & horrifying than those about women sex trafficking (i saw a tv-doc about kenya "beachboys", & even if it's quite "creepy" i couldn't but feel a tiny bit amused)

def' a good subject for a "societal" movie.

That is his signature... calm down.

Just a friendly suggestion, Globalist, that you probably are now aware of... always remember to allow at least a few extra lines between your last comment line and your sig... like this...

Right. Well, I have to-- I have to go now, Duane, because I, I'm due back on the planet Earth.

One of the toughest film experiences for me. Ugly & harsh. Observing hideous from a distance.

what an unnecessary, exploitative freak show! the same old same old from Seidel I'm afraid, he's recycling his own topics over and over again. the Paradise Trilogy, right, cunningly pretending that he has still enough to say to fill the space not of one but of three movies. pathetic!

reply

Paradise: Love was well-made particularly in its use of long takes emphasising the awkwardness of Teresa's experiences. Though if there was a depressing aspect, it would be Teresa's behavior. Did she really expect to have sex with strangers without an repercussions? It annoyed me that Teresa felt betrayed by Munga's manipulation of her money, she paid the price (metaphorically) for her decisions.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

Just watched this on BRay and what I could not get my head around was the fact that the female cast were established actors, with a long list of credits, and the guys were just randoms picked up off the street, never to appear in another film. But then again it is probably no different from your average hens night.
