kid who played TJ was great in this film!

really good actor, I was impressed because I had never seen this kid in anything before.

reply

The little unknown kid outplayed the big names, a stunning performance.

reply

Agreed. I thought he was very talented.

I generally dislike child actors because, primarily, they can't act. And they're often cloying and terrible and made to do crying scenes that they clearly aren't advanced enough to pull off. He actually felt believable.

He was like a likeable version of the kid from "Where the Wild Things Are."

reply

Agreed and agreed. I watched it AGAIN because of the kid; amazing.

reply

The kid was just so freaking believable. You felt all of his pain, sadness, and anger. I hope we get to see him in more things with lots of screen time.

reply

Agree with everyone also. He was absolutely fantastic. Hopefully his talent won't diminish as he gets older like a lot of child actors.

reply

I just hope he doesn't disappear from the scene as many young promising actors have done in the past.

Natalie Portman became a movie star, so, it gives hope.

Don't forget, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was a child actor, too. There are quite a few who make it into adult stars.

I thought Devin Brochu did a great job as T.J. He was so realistic, not like a lot of movie kids with their perfectly coiffed hair and over-acting.

reply

Agreed. He was wonderful as T.J.

reply

Ha! I was getting ready to start a thread entitled 'Anyone else hate the kid as much as I did?'

reply

Yeah, I hated him too (the character, not the actor). I think it had more to do with the writing than the acting.
