Hesher's name derivation

could "hesher" refer to HESH (high explosive squash head) a type of weapon used to blow up buildings? hesher does seem to enter their lives and blow their house up in a figurative manner. any other thoughts on where his name comes from?

No, it's just another word for metalhead, that's it.

"A person who is a fan of, and displays the appearance of heavy metal or hard rock music."
"A male enthusiast of Heavy Metal music, particularly one who adopts the hair style and dress of his idols. The female equivalent is a hesher-chick."

It's a skateboarding term. Hesh being the opposite of fresh.. so hesh is a skinny jean wearing bogan type fashion and fresh is for the kids who wore xxl tshirts and gangsta type clothes. Hesh are rockers and fresh are rappers.

Don't trust Wikipedia too much.

My family was brought here to fight in the Revolutionary War from Hesse. I have a lot of family still there in Hochtaunuskreis, Darmstadt and Fulda.

I've never in my life met a Hessian named Hesher and when I brought it up as a middle name for my son, my relatives from there asked me, "what kind of name is that?"

So, Wikipedia might be goofing a bit.

The Wikipedia article doesn't even mention the word "hasher", so to state it might be "goofing" only shows that you didn't read it.
