True---I just watched it, and yeah, Hesher was a complete, selfish a**hole---even the few things he did that were good, like saving the T.J. from getting beat up that last time by the school bully, and helping the grandma out, didn't make up for the fact that he was one disrespectful, arrogant piece of s***, and all the other *beep* s*** he did. The father should have came out of his depression long enough to kick Hesher's sorry a** the hell out of his house, and call the cops on him---that's what would have actually happened in real life, anyway. The young actor who played T.J. was really good though---he really made you feel what that character was going, and Gordon-Levitt was excellent as usual,as he is in practically everything I've seen him in (even though, like you said, his character was an absolute *beep* dick, and should have gotten his a** kicked more. I was glad when T.J. finally kicked him in his you-know-what---he deserved it for constantly getting him in trouble.
Other then that, it was a pretty good coming-of-age/dealing with loss drama, even though Hesher did some pretty unbelievable things--seems liked he was just a hook to rope an audience into watching this flick.
