So cross at the naysayers on this one!!!!!!!!!

This is a beautiful film, sad funny dramatic and visually stunning. I adored it and really don't know what people are "disappointed" about. Too dark? Oh please! Poor music? It was terrific! Puccini flowing into Rawhide, WOW awesome. I liked it better than first and say thank you George - I feel bad for you this has not been the big hit it deserved to be.

I personally liked it better than the first one. I thought it was a good movie, I thought it worked nicely.

It was great to look at, beyond that there's not a lot going for it. The voice acting is uninspired and pretty boring, the songs aren't well chosen until the ending, the writing wasn't funny throughout, and really the only entertaining parts were the krill. Which I think they recognized, which explains why they're in there so much when they're not even main characters.

As many have said, I would have preferred a movie about them to be honest. Oh well, what's the problem? You liked it, that's all that matters!

I agree. I love it better than the first one. I think it had more cohesion than the first one. The story between father and son, this time being Mumble and Rrik was so heartening, I think better than Mumble and Memphis in the first one. Who couldn't love Bryan and his sons? That part where Bryan gets stuck and Darren and Shane are begging their "Daddy" to make it, ugh. Just love how heroic Mumble was. By and large this film was leaps and bounds above the first. The colour on Blu Ray is just amazing. I also loved Pink as Gloria this time out. Puccini flowing into Rawhide into Queen. How could that be a bad thing?

I could not agree more; I thought this was superior to the first. The new characters were excellent, the dialog consistently witty and humorous, the music great, animation and voice acting very good...overall, I found the dual story line well paced, combining some genuinely moving and emotional moments with plenty of comedic ones. A success! :)

Let's become friends. Everything you mentioned are the reasons I loved the second one more. I love Bryan and his sons. That part was really cute. And who couldn't love Atticus, Bo and Erik?

Ha, sure thing. =3 *adds* I know, right?! There have been a few instances of me preferring an animated sequel to the original (e.g., Madagascar 3, Open Season 2...), and now this. :) I thought that Bryan and his kids were a really well-developed part of the story. Those little elephant seal cubs were precious, and I came to like Bryan very much...he was a complex, interesting, believable character.

Too true. Too true on Bryan, Shane and Darren. I got a little mad at Bryan when he turned on Mumble there for a bit. Erik's aria though said a lot in terms of making Bryan remember his promise. I loved the part where Shane and Darren thanked Mumble and called him, "Your honour." Like you said, too precious. I also loved when the "Under Pressure" number began while Bryan and Wayne were bickering how Darren and Shane joined in with Erik. Oh gosh, I could go on and on about my favourite parts of this film. I would really love to see a third film but I think sadly George Miller was burned. This film should have won an Oscar as well. It was brilliant. I think I might take a look at it again on New Year's Day. I'm having a marathon of all the LOTR films extended editions this weekend. Take care. It's been fun talking about this great film.

I found it interesting how Bryan's character kept seeming to veer in different directions. At first he seemed like a bullying jerk; then it became clear how dedicated he was to his family, his responsibilities, and those he chose as friends. I knew he would honor his promise eventually, though it was a bit surprising when he almost backed out and argued that he was too busy with his own problem to drop it and help the guy who'd gone out of his way, above and beyond, to save him. It was awesome when he, and so many of his kind, came through for the penguins...so moved were they by Erik's epic, touching song. YES! The "Your Honor" line--you know, I can't believe I didn't realize it before, but that's just like when Easy the chimp thanks Babe the pig and says just that ("Thank you, Your Honor") in Babe: Pig in the City, which is another George Miller film. Total reference, and I'm shocked that I missed it the first time. And yeah, Darren and Shane joining in...ooh, I loved it.

What a shame. I think they could pull off a third one, potentially. Sure hope these new characters are brought back if they do. This movie surely would have deserved an Oscar. :/ Hey, an LOTR marathon--that's awesome! I recently finished my holiday-movie one, so now I'm catching up with Instant-queued Netflix stuff, My Little Pony eps, etc., so I can get back to streaming Star Trek. xD You take care as well; I enjoyed the conversation. ^_~
