First 10 minutes would have been superb as a short film

Really wanted to like this, because the part before the title screen rolled in (the first 10 minutes of the film), was absolutely flawless in its execution. The same cannot, sadly, be said about the rest of it. Although the cinematography continued to be nice, the story devolved to the point that, at the end, it even lost coherence with the rules it has set up: Carrie Chan's assistant/lover seems to have died of the poison that was supposed to only paralyze the movement and enhance the senses of its victims. He didn't even take an overdose of the poison, we see it clearly that he is only given a drop of it, exactly like Sandrine Lado, who did not die because of it. So the poison should not have been fatal, at least immediately, neither for Carrie's assistant.
