I see in movie "Switch" that there armed soliders walking (patrolling?) the park.
Is this a normal sight?
Here in the United States, even after September 11, we have not managed to escalate to that heighten level of security of having armed soliders, not even our National Guard, patrolling public spaces like parks.
Perhaps, I do not know, since I have no direct experience, such may be occurring at our nation's capital, near the Washington monument, etc..

I imagine that France wants it's citizens to feel safe and criminals to think twice, as this is right beside the Eiffel Tower it is probably realistic to have soldiers patrolling.

Both soldiers patrol for the Plan Vigipirate (Plan Watchtower Pirates) set up to avoid terrorist attacks.
Soldiers patrol everywhere, especially near the very busy places.
Plan Vigipirate exists since 1978.
