Some great, some not so.. SPOILERS
I thought the atmosphere was really unsettling. The small town with something to hide is conveyed really well, complete with a pig *beep* farm hand and inbred cousins. Creepy. The characters were believable also, Stevey is a totally believable kid in how he plays and explores and asks about his parents. So are his grandparents, really likable people. Only problem with characters is mom still talking to dad after dad puts gun in moms face. The real problem with the film is the last 4/5s of the movie. The climax sucked. Just not scary. I think the director should have went with Stevey's overactive imagination a bit more, and maybe let the ending up to interpretation. Combining a less concrete "blair witch" kind of monster with the atmosphere he created so well probably would have made a scarier film, the angry red neck/charlie manson wannabe hippies just didn't do it for me.
