First 30 mins was good...

This was really really good for the first 30 minutes or so... then when his appearance started changing throughout the movie it just started to get boring. Not just that but for some reason the story wasn't as interesting anymore. The game was even better. The first 30 minutes was awesome, the story, art, everything. The first part had the best art, then the ugly changes of Dante and everything else ruined it. What a shame.

Agreed. Had a LOT of potential but as soon as Dante and Virgil suddenly turn androgynous, I was totally confused and baffled and it went downhill fast from then on.

I've never seen a production suffer so obviously from terrible coordination and planning. Sad that such a great game got this lousy animated 'epic'.

This is a clear case of mediocrity brought on by incompetent management. One can about guarantee that none of the studios or animators involved are proud of this work and did it purely for the money.

What a waste of time, money, opportunity, and energy.

I liked the film until the FRAUD and TREACHERY acts - the former mainly because Dante's encounter with the possessed Beatrice lacked the impact that it had in the game, and the latter because of the animation style. There was a great almost monochrome colour palette that I liked, but the designs were real head-scratchers. Dante looked like he was related to the Hulk, and Lucifer (who looked so cool in the game) uncomfortably reminded me of a Digimon.
