Dante's Inferno: An Animated Epic -- FAIL!

The only thing "Epic" about this peace of junk, is how incredibly bad it is. Story is just non existent, animation is absolutely horrible, bah I can't be bothered.. It's just plain bad.

Agreed 100%

reply

I completely disagree. I just watched it and thought it was great.

reply

When I watched it I thought it was an epic indeed, but we all have our opinions haha

reply

I thought it was epic too, and it reminded me of Lady Death a bit.

maybe you just didn't GET it. try reading a book once in a while, it might make you less dumb

reply

yes if u hav interest about afterworld religion history and mythology about satanic views then u hav a great deal to watch this movie. it will be really an outstanding journey .

Sorry but in my humble opinion reading the stories this rubbish is based on, does not change the fact that this whole "epic" is a visual retelling in incredibly bad animation with one line of "dialogue" repeated until you want to go do something more pleasant, like banging your head against a brick wall repeatedly.

Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy (Dantes Inferno) has no story? Congratulations thats the dumbest thing I've heard in a good decade. Thanks for the giggle.

So following this logic this film has a story because it's loosely based on a poem and game that does?! Silly me, thinking that your not actually supposed to have to know a films story before you see it.

reply

This movie does have a story, but it has actually just about the same story content, if not more so, as the game itself, but it does have some differences from the game. For starters, the movie focuses a lot more on the background than the game does, and it also focuses on Lucifer and Beatrice together when they're not in Dante's presence. Sorry that you find the story terrible. It does remind me of Lady Death a bit.

Oh no, I don't think he's claiming the poems lack story but seeing as this has nothing to do with them I don't see how that has anything to do with his complaints. It's based on the story of the video game which is as far removed from the poems as you can get while keeping the names and depicting hell (which itself takes many liberties from what's described). Or did I just miss the stanzas depicting Dante as a crusader with a cross sewn onto his chest that goes around killing demons with Death's scythe?

This movie, like the game, aren't exactly about the story (it's a good premise that it doesn't handle well). It's basically about the visuals (which they do admirably). And there is absolutely nothing wrong with finding it entertaining. But a good story this is not, and to consider the story comparable to the Divine Comedy is insulting. Servicable for what it's trying to do is more appropriate. As for the animation, I wouldn't call it horrible though it's nothing really special (it varies too much in quality). As for the style, this is fully subjective and I actually quite like it.

dude did you even watch this movie? or did you watch the craptastic paperdolls one? that one sucked. this one was EPIC!

i am not sure how you can consider the animators from Aeon Flux "absolutely horrible"

I enjoyed this movie, I might even re-watch certain segments that I enjoyed the most. The changing art styles from different studios didn't bother me that much either. I think I was most annoyed with that in Batman: Gotham Knight, probably because I'm used to a consistent story flow through out a movie when it comes to my favorite superheroes. The Animatrix was done the same way, and I feel I enjoyed this even more than that, but that's because I'm biased to a consistent flow of story for the overall plot of a film.

Another point that might annoy people is not knowing about the original Dante's Inferno, the epic poem written in the early 1300's. I'm guilty of not reading it over, but I do know the main plot and I enjoyed how the movie covered this very well. Anyway, as an animation lover and comic book lover, I think we shouldn't forget that doesn't mean we can't still enjoy our artistic ancestors, such as Dante Alighieri, Edgar Allan Poe, William Shakespeare, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Greek, Norse and Egyptian mythology. They didn't have the technology we have, but these guys were masters of their art and artists these days can still draw inspiration from the works they created centuries ago.

agree. the style was awful and jarring.

Andyman is a troll who doesn't know what he's talking about

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. While I do like this movie, I wouldn't call Andyman a troll just because he disliked this film and expressed his opinion to us.
