Lost Boys is an 80s film, cannot be remade.

Just like Back To The Future, Goonies, stand By Me, Mad Max 1/2 (even Terminator, (*early 90s is an exception and for good reason) similar. These 80's classic cannot be remade or have a sequel, no matter how good or bad. This was the era were the where a lot of the great aspects from the film came from the era, the cheesy clothing, lines, bad camera with no perfect lighting in every scene.

So for The Lost Boys this applies imo, the cheesy 80s style makes the film, just so happens to have a story/character behind it. You cannot replicate that.

The sequel captured nothing of the original, just like almost every other remake sequel.

*Early 90's still had that cheesy, bad camera style which i love.

This sequel was no remake. It's a post-adaptation of the original. And it sure as hell was far better than the first "sequel" (The Tribe), which wasn't even an F-rating for garbage.

The producers did a B+ job resurrecting the classic film concepts here. And reuniting the old familiar Frog-brothers was a decent step; esp the flashback excerpts, honoring the memory of Sam Emerson (the late, awesome Corey Haim).

Cheesy? Not really. The acting overall was very decent, and the action scenes were almost dead-on.
