I don't know how closely this follows the book, but ...

I was hooked on this as the first episode I thought was very well done.
Then it starts jumps around in time in a way I did not really like, and
seemed to think that because it got you interested and was good that
it could do anything and we'd stand for it.

Well, I thought the whole hold-up scene was ridiculous, and would never
have been used as an intelligence operations in a millions years because
it was TV and far too unpredictable to ever be planned for a real operation.
It was so stupid as to be insulting, and then the result of that, the fast
friendship between the two main characters was ridiculous. Roper would
have been smart enough to smell a rat 20 miles away. It was really
downright stupid.
