This guy abuses himself to save pigs from being abused

He's being an idiot... He's totally destroying and hating his own life to "save" pigs. His efforts don't even work usually, and he STILL isn't happy. He's a cute young guy with a great heart... he really needs to give this undercover pig savior crap up and live his life to make himself happy, not pigs...

Did you listen at all to what he said? He's doing what he believes in. At some point, his face will be too well-known to continue, and he'll still be a cute young guy with a great heart, and he'll move on with his life.

are you kidding me? this guy is doing something completely selfless, and you have the nerve to give him a hard time about it? we need MORE people like him (and less people like you). you clearly are not a decent human being.

The original poster clearly empathizes with Pete and the emotional turmoil he puts himself through in his pursuit of animal rights investigations. They simply doesn't believe it's worth the trade off to Pete's well being. Disagree with him or her if you'd like, but to say they're not a decent human being is pretty out of line.

I'm not an animal rights activist. I used to "kinda" be one. I personally know "Pete" who is featured in this doc. We went to high school together, jammed in a band together, and worked at a "no-kill" animal shelter. He's a great guy that really cares about the animals and has devoted his life to helping them. I have fond memories working with him at the shelter.

A poster on this thread says we need more people like him in the world. I couldn't agree with this poster any more. He's a selfless individual that truly has set his own life aside in order to be the voice of the voiceless.

Did YOU hear what he said about how what he does makes him feel and impacts his life?! He practically admitted he is miserable. Don't give me that crap, the PIGS don't care about his sacrifices and you know it. Look at the results of this fiasco, the poor guy seems to be thinking that people should sacrifice their lives for pigs!

He mentioned that this is what he does. I don't think he would subject himself to this "abuse" if he wasn't passionate about it. What do you think all of these animal rights activists and investigators do? They definitely don't just sit back and say "hey, this animal is being abused,i hope someone does something". They go out and seek justice for abused and neglected animals. So if he wants to continue doing this, even though it's hard on him, then god bless him because he is trying to make a difference in this uncaring world.

I'm sure people who feel the same way as you just help fuel him to do what he does even more. It takes someone with a big heart to do what he does; I could only wish I had THAT much drive to stand up for what I believe in, and he does it. Instead of busting his balls about it, how about commending him for the job he does? You've all but admitted you'd never be able to do something of that magnitude yourself, don't judge him because he does something most people aren't driven enough to do themselves.

So....you think he's doing it to get reinforcement from the pigs? What, do you think he wants a pat on the back from them?

OBVIOUSLY he knows the pigs are not going to personally thank him, and that is not why he does it. He does it because he believes deep down in his heart that factory farming is wrong and unnecessary, that farm animals are intelligent, beautiful creatures, and that people have the capacity to change and see things the way he sees if given the chance. He does it to expose a horrible practice. I think in the film he was venting a little bit, because obviously it is not a pleasant line of work. But he doesn't need to come out and say that it gives him satisfaction and purpose in his life, because that was apparent in the end when he said how frustrating it was that he would have to change his name again and start over, but that he would do it anyway. If he got nothing out of it, he wouldn't do it. Period.

He is not an idiot, he is a driven, compassionate person who does what he believes in.

He's not doing this to be 'altruistic, noble or selfless' he's doing it to make money and becaome famous... This movie was shown on Showtime, they pay to for the rights to show these moc-u-mentries...
If fame and eventual wealth weren't the eventual goal, it would have been shown on the discovery channel (but they pay much less than Showtime) Or even the animal planet channel,, (But they pay even less)
And once he's made one or two more of these pieces of crap.. He can then get on the lecture curcit making $10K-75K for speaking at animal rights fund raisers...
Don't pity him,, He's put himself into this for a reason..
It's obvious he has a plan...
