An Identity Crisis Animated film should be next!!

In my Identity Crisis is definitely one of the best DC comic Novels ever, and if they do another Justice League that's what it should be.

Identity Crisis is remotely like New Frontier in that is done by Fans of the Silver Age, to remind of that period, but it's Much Different in that it's Ultimately about the Loss of The Innocence of that period, which would make it a great Thematic Follow up to New Frontier (Thou not in Continuity) and since the OMAC project is going to be the Plot for the Upcoming Live Action Justice League Films, an Animated New Frontier could serve almost as a sort of Prequel, especially since the WB always has an Animated project to accompany each Live Action big Screen movie they do.

It's story is Dramatic with lots of Depths but not really Epic in the strictest Sense and is perhaps one of the few that could work with the WB's stupid 75 Minute Time Limit, thou I'd still obviously prefer they abandoned that. And there are some scenes that do seem Useless to me which I wouldn't mind them dropping, like the Scene early on between Nightwing and Starfire (the scene is great but they don't really Contribute anything major to story after that).

However there are some things they may want to add for the General Public like a Brief Dialog Scene explaining the History of the Robins, since Tim Drake plays such an Important role and most in the General Public don't know there has been more then just Dick Grayson, or maybe a quick Flash Back scene of Wally as Kid Flash encountering the Pathetic Version of Dr.Light, since non Comic Readers aren't likely to Understand his Legacy.

Anyways here are some Voice Casting Ideas, some of their really are designed to fit in with the Inspirations the Writer's Talked about in their Commentary in the Collection, and others are actualy returning from New Frontier, even thou it's no in Continuity with it, I feel it fits cause of what I said before..

I'd like to see that, too. Timm and company would do it justice indefinitely. I love how the Identity Crisis makes the characters feel real. Timm's Justice League animated series had a very similar vibe to it. I could almost see it taking place within the DCAU.

It won't happen. THese movies tend to run rather short and this story needs an epic treatment. If they do manage to get it down to 70 minutes or so, it will be butchered.

Secondly, it is probably one of the most depressing mainstream superhero story ever made. No Warner Brothers suit will to put up money for a story with rape, murder and the lobotomization of people by the "heroes". They learned their lesson with Watchmen. I imagine they will go more "family friendly" in their projects now.

The story is very deep, but I actually wouldn't cal it Epic at all.

I think more then any other story people are wanting this could be the easiest to pull off in 70 Minute,s that gives us 10 for each volume of the comic.

I think it could be done. These DC Animated Movies are directed more towards adults anyway. The comparison to Watchmen doesn't work because more people go to the theater than buy these direct to video movies.

I'd rather they do something more contained than trying to shove another epic into an hour and thirty minuet film. Something like Superman: Red Son or JLA: Tower of Babel.

The minuet god crapped out the third caveman a conspiracy was hatched against one of them!

Identity Crisis is a very emotional story, I'm not so sure I'd count it as Epic thou.

Perhaps "epic" was the wrong word to use. I think "too long" is what I was trying to say. Stories like Death and Return of Superman and The New Frontier are very long and should never have been adapted unless they had planned to do a series of films instead of just one.

Death and Return was definitely way to big, Identity Crisis was simply 7 Issues, and I can see the events of each issue being done in about 10 Minutes, not the best way to do it, but it could work out better then the last few films at least.

Bump

I may be adjusting my voice casting suggestions soon, trying to make it a but more realistic.

I'd like to see this happen too, but an adaptation of Identity Crisis would be hard to get right. And god knows Bruce Timm's team gonna make several changes to the original storyline, regardless if they're always thinking of an adult and older audience in mind, with merely the kids who watch and enjoy superheroes in general just tagging along and will be able to enjoy the same film for different reasons etc.

Respect for the source material or not, everything changes in translation from one medium to another. The Identity Crisis Graphic Novel/Comics to DTV film won't be any different in this case neither. But we'll love seeing what'll happen no doubt should it come about and be made into a reality.

Sue Dibney's on-screen rape would make a great opening sequence.
