Why was DJ Yella in the group.

Why was Yella in the group. He brought nothing to the table. Seems to me he was riding the other members. He was garbage on the mic and had no rap skills what so ever.

I was curious about this too. seems like dre was the dj. what did yella dj exactly?

If you think Tony Soprano died, you're overanalyzing the ending and creating your own script.

He was garbage on the mic? Where did you hear him rap exactly? He rapped here and there on the World Class Wreckin' Cru records, but he was never a rapper in N.W.A.

To answer your question, he was the group's DJ and he created much of the music with Dre. Both him and Dre collaborated and created the music for all the N.W.A songs. Yes, Dre did a lot of DJing, but Yella was the one who mostly handled that job in the group's live shows.

Very true. I did some more research on the characters after I watched the movie. It is difficult to cover everything in two hours.

He probably did some beat making too but I believe his specialty was mixing, editing and engineering.

If it is true about Yella saying the group broke up before completing their last album, then maybe it was him doing most of those mixing during a break in songs.

Yeah that would make sense. Yella has always seemed very proficient by working behind the scenes. He did have a successful career directing porn!
