I don't like rap & am generally not interested in it, but watched this anyway & really enjoyed the story & performances. I'm very confused as to the hate this movie has gotten. Is it all just cop worshipers or what? High rating here, but I went back several pages & the positive comments are few & far between, wth.
shareI loved the movie as well, I am an NWA fan who also enjoys all styles of music. Sadly, the majority of hate that this film has received is due to hypocrisy and very intense and hostile racism due to total ignorance and fear.
shareI'm not a big rap fan but I wanted to see the film because I understand how important NWA was to the music of the period. I thought the film was courageous and I liked how nobody got whitewashed, we got to see the band, the manager, their crew with warts and all.
This film should have at least gotten an Academy Award nomination.

I wasn't an NWA fan back in the day (altho I did listen to some rap, mostly Public Enemy), but like you, I really enjoyed this movie. I thought it was very dynamic and most of the performances were very good (especially Ice Cube's kid!) It takes some liberties with the facts, but what movie doesn't?
After finally watching it last night, I can see now why so many people were mad that it didn't get nominated for Best Picture.
Agreed Not a big rap fan but I don't think that matters. I think it was well written, produced, and edited. The story and characters kept my attention throughout the film. Not many films I've seen lately have been able to keep me engaged.
