so Ice Cube grew up in Baldwin Hills?

I read somewhere online and I'm pretty sure it's a reputable site, that Cube actually grew up in Baldwin Hills. I don't get to LA often but isn't Baldwin Hills an upper middle class community? I also read, years ago, that he's actually college educated and studying engineering before he join NWA. I always knew that Cube was the most intellectual of the group but I had no idea that all of that "gangster" hype was an act.

I believe he was and part of Baldwin Hills is middle class.

However, a lot of parts in Baldwin Hills is considered South L.A. and that is where the Crenshaw area is at.

Example, in Boys in the Hood and Baby Boy, a lot of the filming was done in the Crenshaw area, Baldwin Hills, Leimert Park and other surrounding areas. The Baldwin Hills Mall ( where Doughboy and his crew killed the guys responsibile for his bros death) was in the parking lot. The "Jungles" (Training Day) is a mile or two away from the Mall.

In closing Baldwin Hills has some nice areas but there are plenty of hoods there.

Thanks for clearing that up. I remember watching a show years ago that referred to Baldwin Hills as "the black Beverley Hills" and that's where my confusion lies.

I believe Ladera Heights is considered the black Beverly Hills Hills, but Ladera Heights is next to Baldwin Hills

Ice Cube was Ladera Heights Adjacent?

I grew up in LA. Baldwin Hills is seen as the Beverly Hills for black people.

What's interesting to me is Eazy E grew up middle class. He had married parents who worked for the post office and were school administrators.
