Only one thing spoilt the ending, and that was ...


... the fact that heart monitor re-started.

Without that detail, he unambiguously shuffled off this mortal coil, and the car carrying on without crashing was him being with his family in the Afterlife.



But the heart monitor re-starting either means he came out of his coma, in which case, there is no reason to have a scene of the car not crashing.

Or else the heart monitor re-starting means he stayed in his coma, but now has completely different dreams, which seems a bit lazy, and means we can't really rely on anything we saw as properly revealing the events which led to him being in the coma in the first place.
