I genuinely do not understand, Dwain is such a good action star with some fantastic action movies under his belt. Why does he keep taking these roles where he makes a fool out of himself ( lessons should be learned from Stallones 'stop or my mom will shoot' and Arnies 'Junior' ). I know there have been some good light action movies from all three but i hope Dwain notices that action stars always flourish in '18'/'R' rated movies.

Also 'The Rock' does these movies because he has a sense of humour and cares for his kids.
I think he pulls it off personally, makes such films watchable.

I thought that Dwayne's character was annoying in this film, merely due to the fact that he thought he knew exactly what to do all the time & actually he didn't. The chest twitching went on far too long.
Michael Caine? Someone mentioned the Jaws film he was in & when he was aked why he did it, he replied "because I got paid lots of money" ... fair answer!

What a silly question.
He's a very good actor and always has been, and his film choice may just be he does things he finds enjoyable rather than the more serious ones that probably are alot less 'fun' to make.
He's an incredibly charasmatic actor (that was evident even his WWF days), and in all honesty, anything he's in i'll watch. It appeals to a much wider audience than if he were just taking on very serious roles.

Because he doesn't have a gigantic ego that requires him to only appear in movies that are going to be box office hits in a certain genre. He has no problem taking on a silly role and making fun of himself. He has no problem playing a good guy, he has no problem playing a bad guy, he has no problem playing a silly character.
It is kind of counter-intuitive because his wrestling persona "The Rock" is almost defined by his arrogance, but he is a silly guy who doesn't mind doing silly things once in a while.
Actors have 'bills' like everyone else, you have to keep working to pay them and keep your name out there to get work, they can't pick and chose what they want, just like you can't go into work and tell your boss what you will and will not do!

I understand to a degree but i dont think that the rock does these movies to 'pay the bills'. If that was the case he would be showing up in horrible made for tv movies. Dwayne Johnson is an action star, one of the best action stars in hollywood right now and my point is that apart from the recent resurrections of sly and arnie he is probably the best action star that should be taking the full on summer blockbuster roles. Im not putting Dwayne down, far from it. I am simply saying that there is a big gap to be filled in the action star roles and kissing vampires with moody teens dont fill it. Some of his more recent roles prove that. Take care and happy Christmas.
