Come on...it's a fun film!

Of course people will hate on this film, yet it is a pretty fun watch! I just watched it with a friend and his 6 year old, and we really liked it! Great visuals abound; it's not too corny, and I don't care: Michael Caine is a hoot in pretty much anything. A fun romp for the family.

I agree a thousand times over with you. Back in the day, while millions were seeing the original STAR WARS for the 10th time, there were those who were complaining. Same with Raiders of the Lost Ark, Superman, E.T., any movie that was designed from the start to be simply "fun".

If you really liked this film check out it's prequel (Journey to the Center of the Earth) make sure it's the 2008 version.

I likes the first one a lot better than the second...

reply

Exactly, just fun to watch, there was a lot work involved with the special effects and the scenery to create enjoyment and the movie delivers.

reply

I like it a lot too. It's a great adventure.

I have a new philosophy. I'm only going to dread one day at a time.

reply

Yeah man I agree, this movie wasn`t supposed to be a masterpice but a fun movie to watch with the family, what they did expect to be,The Godfather part 4?
Stupid people...

reply

Not Godfather part 4, not even Nemo, but at least have some standards of intelligence like the old family films used to. This movie was not fun, it was nauseating, the screenplay was so cheaply put together, it was an insult to myself and my kids. I never have to wonder why they don't bother putting out quality family movies anymore, because they always have people subjecting their kids to whatever they through out there. My kids deserve better.

and I just loved the huge dino-iguana , and the bees, and the tiny elephant

reply

I agree. It was so gorgeous and funny and totally family friendly. Sure it was a bit silly, but it put a smile on my face after I had watched several disturbing films in the last 2 days.

reply

I completely agree - I saw the movie yesterday in Blu-Ray 3D and was amazed. The 3D effects are great, especially the giant fly at 57 minutes was the best 3D pop-out I have seen in a non-IMAX movie. So clearly this movie was made for 3D, and it should not be seen in 2D.

The logic in this movie is about as good as a Carl Barks Donald Duck adventure, so do not expect any deep teeth-grinding French existentialism, but sit back and enjoy with your kids. To be frank, any 10-year-old may enjoy this movie at least as much as the recent Star Wars movies... ;-)

Look, when you want all the characters to die a fiery death, you know it's a bad movie.

YES it is funny, and somehow cool, verneĀ“s ideas put in a modern light is a great premise, <i personally would love to see the third sequel on the moon, with the ancient old big cannon still hidden somewhere in america.

I have no kids (I'm 27) and I watched it alone and liked it a lot! I love the Rock and he's hilariously corny with those huge muscles, but in other movies he's a scary mofo! It is fun and dumb, but everything doesn't need an Oscar. Sometimes you just want to watch something "light."

It's not that bad, there are a million movies worse than this... but I think we live in a time now where people go into films and pick out so many illogical things rather than disbelief reality and just sit back to enjoy it. I've noticed it in myself having seen so many things on youtube like movie sins, and red letter media and what not to pick apart movies and nitpick at everything, that its changed the way I view alot of movies and I find myself enjoying movies more when I can escape from that mind frame of thinking and just watch it, like I tried to do with this film, but things just kept popping into my head left right and center watching this... things like if the island sinks every 140 years, and the end of the film shows the island going under, crumbling apart and caving in on itself etc... then how was Atlantis still standing as it was? Does it rebuild itself when it does rise again? Things like that. However if its someone going in knowing its going to be full of plotholes, then sure, they are going to find just about everything in this film illogical... which is why im trying to constantly remind myself, it's just a movie, not a documentary.

Watched it yesterday and liked it, maybe more than Journey 1. The story is explained fast in the first minutes, then the adventure goes on, Michael Caine seems to have fun, Vanessa is astounding, The Rock is his usual fun muscle guy, the references of Jules Vernes bring back childhood memories. I'll get it in Blu-ray soon.
