mmmmm, just to make it look abondoned and old...like an abandoned house..

reply

, no shi+ sherlock, but spiders don't live underwater and can't get into submarines, so it doesn't make sense that spiderwebs are there.

The submarine wasn't underwater, Sherlock, until well...I don't want to give away too much, but they expected it to be docked in a cave IN the water, not under it.

Why are there spiderwebs in a submarine IN the water?

reply

he's trying to say the submarine wasnt in the water the whole time until towards the end of the film

reply

Even if it wasnt under water, it was closed shut and since its a submarine, I would think its air tight. So, the spiders were left in there the last time Cpt Nemo closed the door?

reply

There were no spiders by the time they got into the sub. The webs were from 140 years earlier when the sub was closed up. The spiders built their webs and died out when there was no food. THIS is the thing that you found hard to believe about the movie???

reply

They probably were not spider webs at all. More like cobwebs which accumalate with dust. That is what I figured at least. And dust would have been in there before they left it there so it would be safe to assume that if the sub was air tight then the dust would have no where to go.

reply

Spiderwebs and cobwebs are the same thing.

Why is Duct Tape like The Force?

reply

Not quite. Cobwebs are actually made by different types of arachnids than those that make spiderwebs. Different spiders, different webs so they are not quite the same thing.

Never give in. Never give up. Never surrender.

reply

the submarine was not under water that long the island was sinking.
and anyways on the island all animals including spiders are amphibious

reply

soooo, was the submarine NEVER above water, did the crew NEVER open the door while on a shore? you guys love to pick on the silliest subjects

reply

Wrong. Have you heard of a Diving Bell spider, which actually uses a water bubble to breathe under water. A lot of spiders live in and around and, yes, even under water. It's actually quite common.

Those wouldn't end up inside a submarine, because there is no water inside a submarine you dolt.

reply

Actually, they would end up inside the submarine if someone were to say, I don't know, open up the hatch to the submarine like they did in the film you dolt, lol. Seriously, used your head for once.

reply

Oh yeah like that can happen lol stupid = One Man Army

reply

Well, considering that it actually CAN happen seeing as they actually DID open the hatch in the film, I'd say stupid = submachine, lol. Seriously, use your brain for once.

reply

Films aren't real, and when they don't reflect reality they are stupid. Like you

LOL Is that really the best comeback you can do? I know 3 year olds with better insults than that. Come on. You really have to do better than that.

reply

Well, Subby: it's like this.

These big, three-legged space robots attack NYC, and the Fantastic Four does their best to beat them back . But, they just can't hack it. Then, Reed Richards finds out that these things had attacked Earth before, circa 1898. And, that they were single-handedly wiped out by Wolverine of the X-Men! Only, he doesn't remember anything like that happening. So, Richards sends Spider-man back in time, to find out how and why. And, after landing on the Nautilus, Spidey discovers that Wolverine was then known as Gabriel Van Helsing of the League of Extraordinary Gentleman!!

reply

Why are there spiderwebs in your brain?

I've got a theory. It could be bunnies.

reply

Yeah! Highly valuable "thought-bunnies."

So, there! :P

reply

The spiders were on the Nautilus from before the Island was discovered by Captain Nemo. They kept breeding all these decades.

reply

what did they eat?

reply

realistically, there shouldn't have been any spider webs in the sub. a lot of dust yes, but no spider webs. just makes the movie more interesting that's all.

reply

It was an odd addition that made me say huh? Yes alot of other things also made no sense but thats what I also caught unto.

reply

I just finished watching and I agree. This is the only thing that I found unusual about the film, the spiders webs in the submarine......

Having said that it was a waste of an hour and a half.

reply

It was for me too. The movie was written and filmed in a hurry.

No, seriously it was. The first movie was way better.

reply

it´s not crazy to think spiders crawled into the sub in one of the many many times nemo´s crew opened the hatch, is it?

reply

lol, how could they even get ON the submarine?
