Anyone interested in copyright law should see this

I saw a screening of this film in NYC this past weekend and thought it was a fascinating study of copyright law. It raises a lot of interesting questions on the subject and makes its argument quite persuasively. It uses the mash-up musician 'Girltalk' as its centerpiece, illustrating his use of music appropriation as a working model for the restrictions of copyright law. There's also some really interesting stuff about film copyright (a long discussion on Disney's practices, made even more timely by Disney's recent efforts to copyright a character name) and even medical copyright (HIV medication in Brazil).

While the filmmaker's opinion on the subject is no secret, there's enough information to create an interesting discourse between both those opposed and in favor of copyright law.

I hadn't heard much about the film before the screening but it looks like there's a lot written so far and it's already available for download on iTunes or through its website: http://www.ripremix.com/getdownloads/
