Representation of the Negativland case was seriously flawed

The narration and presentation of the Negativland lawsuit was mega-skewed. The movie failed to mention that one of the main reasons they were sued for that single was because it had the word "U2" in much bigger letters than "Negativland" on the cover, so it looked like a new single by U2 called "Negativland," and Island Records thought consumers were going to be confused into buying a profanity-laced noise experiment thinking it was a U2 single, and the "U2 brand" would be damaged. Whether or not anyone agrees with that argument or not isn't the issue -- to present the case as if the only reason Negativland and SST were sued by the record company was because they made fun of U2 with a clever satire, as the narration portrayed, transcends simplistic and borders on deceptive. The confusing packaging was an equal part of the lawsuit with the copyright infringement contained in the music itself.
